I now use Bumble &amp; Bumble Volumizing shampoo/conditioner/spray and have nothing but amazing results with it. I no longer have any scalp issues, flaky scalp, pimples, etc. My hair is full and looks gorgeous. I also color my hair and highlight it and find that it's gentle enough that it doesn't destroy the color too badly. And it uses two ingredients: baking soda and water. About as safe and everything-free as you can get and cheap as a baby chick. Apparently it was all the silicones in Pantene that were making my hair smell funky! Ugh. Tresemme has a low sulfate shampoo and silicone free conditioner. The shampoo is a little sketchy though--the second and third ingredients are sulfates...but I only use it sparingly at the scalp. It's really not the right type of shampoo for me (my hair is not dry or overly fluffy) but it smells so good and it lathers beautifully. Since I have short hair, it doesn't seem to weight it down. I prefer a shampoo with no silicones or conditioners. For those that color, it's supposed to be better about not stripping color too.
