I'm not really doing the challenge, but it has really helped me focus my purchases and culling around getting the silhouette I want and not getting distracted by things that don't help.

I've enjoyed seeing everyone's posts on this challenge although I didn't participate. I usually just try to make sure I don't wear pants every day of the week. A dress or skirt a couple days a week seems to be enough variety in silhouette to keep me from being bored.

Whilst I haven't followed closely, this challenge sure planted a seed in my mind!
I purchased a dress that can be worn in a number of ways and have felt pleased at the idea of a fresh silhouette for Spring/Summer here, so Thank-you for the inspiration

I'm still cogitating on this and probably won't be certain of what I've learned for a little while. But so far, here's what I can say:

1. I really like the small assignment to wear a different silhouette several times a week. Last year, we had a "no repeat November" where we were not supposed to wear the same outfit twice in a month. That challenge felt very onerous at the time. Why? Because, as I discovered, I prefer repeating outfits that I love to coming up with new combinations just for the sake of it.

This challenge, by contrast, is just enough for me. It allows me to repeat outfits within the month if I like, but it reminds me to try new combinations and to think about wearing items I might otherwise neglect.

As it turns out, I don't think I did repeat an outfit! Which is kind of amazing in itself, for me.

2. It also helps, I think, that my wardrobe is a bit larger than last year, with more workable, modern options. I may wish to be a minimalist, but it seems for now I am happier with a moderate closet. I need to count "working" items to see what the size is -- I'll do that shortly. I think it is around 80 or so.

3. Like Aida, I seem to find more variety in switching up my bottoms, so adding a dress in a skirt in knit fabrication was a great idea and has substantially increased my pleasure -- far beyond the cost of the items.

4. I still love my FFB of fluid sweater semi-tucked into slouchy skinnies. I think it suits me better than just about anything, and feels great. But I get more pleasure from wearing it if I'm not wearing it every blessed day.

5. Footwear is key, and as Aida said, the shaft height seems to give me some sense of variation. For me, toe shape and heel height also matters. But I really don't wear heels beyond 2 inches in winter anyway.

6. Varying colours doesn't matter as much to me. I do love to have colour in my closet and I get great joy from seeing, touching, and wearing lovely colours (esp. in winter). But at the same time, doing so doesn't make me feel "less bored." Last week was almost entirely a week of grey outfits and that didn't matter to me a bit because I was varying silhouette. Next week might be a week of berry or blue, and the same would be true.

I've found it really interesting, doing the challenge, and also a little sobering. Some of my go-to silhouettes are not the most flattering. Full-length pictures also seem to give a different sense of proportion than even looking in a mirror - this week I wore a sweater that I thought was super-long and in the pictures it just looked normal.

Amusingly, I often feel too scattered when each day in the week is a different silhouette - maybe my ideal is a little repetition during the week, and next week a different subset of silhouettes.

A month ago I posted this challenge to myself:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....e-rotation

And a number of you joined in to my joy and surprise. In fact some of you have been doing it more faithfully than me (Suz and ElizabethP!).

So far I've learned that the variety really helps me keep from being bored and oddly enough, from shopping. It's been especially important to include footwear rotation in there because not only does it need changing up with silhouettes but it gives another variable. Skinnies with tall boots and skinnies with ankle boots feel different enough to me somehow.

Anyone else who's been following along care to share their thoughts here? Aida already did her amazing post separately, of course!
