For me, I've seen a wildcard as something with an element of risk. Although in my head, my definition has been 'unexpected with regard to one's style.' But, eg, I bought some OTK boots and couldn't say they are stylistically out of my realm - yet I felt they were a wildcard. </p> <p>Not a great success, btw, the boots. They're not up to the stress of the amount of walking I do. In other words, it's not something you would typically buy. You're doing something different. A person usually purchases only one or two wildcards per season because you don't know how you're going to react to them.
