I live in jeans. I have categories similar to Always Trying.

I have my work jeans (dark wash and straight leg) from when I was working. They still come out for an appearance when the rest of my jeans are dirty. I have my BF patched jeans that I only wear in the summer. Then I have relaxed skinnies that are my current favs. I also have bootcuts. (Glad I hung on to them) I generally wear a pair of jeans for my daily life.

I wear a lot of T shirts. As a topper I wear a cardigan (I like Jacobs for spring) or a blazer. I always wear a belt. I like booties. I also like scarfs. I also wear hats.

Jeans and a tee are pretty much what I always wear, but post-YLF I now wear them with boots, shooties, oxfords, and blazers. My favorite inspiration now is Jennifer Aniston's airport style!

Diana, can I tell you how smashing you look even just in that second outfit -- the plain tee and faded jeans with the boots. It's so simple but looks great on you! This is why everyone wants to find the perfect white tee.

TG, Diana's #2 look is my go to look in the summer, either with rolled jeans, capris, or denim shorts. I sometimes add a cardi and scarf, too, or at least I used to when I was wearing scarves. I think I'm having scarf fatigue, too! But I actually have a spring/summer collection, so it's time to put some on again.

I pretty much live in jeans. I wear a lot of button down shirts and knit wear but I do wear some tees. I add interest by wear graphic or print tees and adding a jacket, cardi or vest, adding different color of jeans other than blue helps and of course shoes. Shoes can make a huge change. Here are some of my jeans with tees.

torontogirl, we were in sinc today because a white shirt and jeans was exactly what I wore.
I also grab my scarves less often, and when I do they are the centre piece of the outfit.
I loved all the outfits above.

Thanks everyone for responding; some great ideas here! Amazing how different all your WIWs are, even with the basic premise being identical. Some amazing jackets, accessories and colors in the mix.

Funny about the scarves; I was so committed to scarves for a while and now push myself to wear them, just for the bit of color. Scarf fatigue perhaps?

always trying, I love the idea of the levels ... I'll have to evaluate my jeans to see if I have the levels covered ... a great way of pushing this combo even further.

Thanks again one and all!

I am a committed jeans-and-tee gal too. It's my most comfortable outfit, and it suits both my lifestyle and my figure. It's not boring for me, because there is such a range of choice when it comes to jean silhouettes and tee shirts!

I like how you've styled yours today. I go for that look a lot, except not the scarf because I don't wear 'em (except for warmth in the winter). I find the key to the jeans-and-tee look is a great fitting, nice tee. A lot of mine probably aren't technically tee shirts because they have angled cap sleeves and a slash neckline, and they curve in at the waist. I wear mine semi-tucked into the front of my low-rise jeans (all of my jeans are low-rise), with a 2" belt. Having great jeans is important too. I tend to wear slouchier tops with skinny jeans, and more fitted tops with looser jean styles.

To dress up the jeans and tee, I wear dressier shoes with heels, a blazer, and brighter lipstick. To dress down, I wear a casual cardi and Converse, flat short boots or flat sandals. I rarely wear knee boots with skinnies tucked in.

I too wear jeans and t's a lot-maybe 85% of the time. I have my jeans and tops in 3 sections. My work jeans (or rather my dog training, around the house jeans) These are worn with running shoes, loafers, flip flops, sneekers of all kinds, hiking boots, booties, and just about anything that can be worn with socks, depending on the weather and activity. These are worn with hoodies, sweat shirts, long and short sleeved t's. also they are my less expensive ones, and are everything from BF,s rolled or not, old bootcuts, and skinnies.

Next category are the better ones for casual things like shopping, out to lunch, bridge classes, etc. They are mostly worn with more on trend t's, sweaters, and sometimes other on trend tops, with nice booties either flat or heels, tall boots, sandals flat or heeled, flats, loafers, more on trend sneekers. These are sometimes more pricey ones (although I never by premium denim, as I have not found any that are worth the price) and are mostly whatever the current trends are as far as style-BF's but not baggy ones-skinnies but not sausage casings. Toppers for these range from blazers, to cardis, or my warmer coats, to a nice quilted jacket, and the white denim jacket for spring and summer. Also jewelry and scarves depending on the occasion or the type of t or sweater.

Next are what I call my dress up jeans-these are my colored ones, black, white, and burgundy. These are skinnies now, but again not sausage casings, Mostly they are worn with a few special t's, fluid woven tops, and my best blazers, or in cold weather my faux fur jacket. Always wear them with booties, flats, or sandals. Again tops depend on weather and the occasion, and there is some overflow from category 2 as far as styling them -- footwear, and toppers.

Here's a few of mine. And I often wear a plain black tee with jeans. I do think those outfits are underrepresented in my WIWs because they are so simple I don't generally bother to take a picture.

ETA: I'd often take an outfit like these and pop a blazer over as well, for a tiny bit more dressiness. Added a couple more versions with toppers.

A very good question. Since my plans for the day have been shot, and I'm bored silly, can you stand another powerpoint slide from me? I actually think it's going to be very helpful to me to see all my single type outfits on one slide rather than searching through my WIW pics. So here goes. Mine seem to be pretty basic...always a belt, mostly cute shoes, sometimes a necklace, sometimes a jean roll. As much as I love scarves, I haven't been wearing them lately. Yours looks terrific with your outfit today. I'll have to make an effort to wear them.

Great question -- the jean + tee combo is so classic yet so individualized.

I rarely wear any accessories, so when I do a simple combo, I make sure at least one of the pieces (usually the shoes) is of interest. It's funny, I rarely take any photos of my everyday outfits, since they are basically jeans + tees. But here are a few of mine. (The jeans aren't very simple in the last one, so I guess they are the accessory!)

ETA: I guess you can see some mixing going on -- same shoes in 1 and 3, same black tee in 1, 2, and 4. I swear I have more tees ;)

It's become one of my favorite looks. Funny, because when I joined here I was one of the few casual dressers with zero t-shirts. (having to wear a logo tee as a uniform for the last 20 years made me not want to wear them on MY time).
Now I seem to be quite comfortable in a tee, as long as it's not a basic square Hane's mens number. I like drapey tees with straight or skinny jeans, just change up the footwear and add jacket as needed. For more fun, printed or colored jeans can kick things up; even though you're still just wearing jeans and a tee, it looks like more.
Heck, just yesterday I was jeans and a tee (pic1)!

My outfit from yesterday sums up one of the ways I do it: graphic tee, bootcuts, boots, belt. Add interesting topper and I'm set! I also do the same thing with dressier tees, straight-leg or skinny jeans, and pretty much any kind of footwear, from fashion sneakers to sandals to booties. I feel like the possibilities are almost endless.

Hi all,

Not sure if this is weird, but I want to know how fabbers wear simple jeans and a t-shirt. I am a jeans and tee girl and fighting it only gives me stress (and a bunch of clothes I have to dig through to find my jeans and tees). I don't wear them 100% of the time, but 90 - 95% of the time wouldn't be exaggerating. I am obsessed with anything that shows how to accessorize the same simple tee and jeans to get however-many different looks out of it.

Anyhow - I was hoping folks could either describe, or post a photo of, how they wear their jeans and tees. How do you dress them up or down? How do you style them for work, or for casual? Do you love this look, or is it too boring for you? If you are a dedicated wearer, how to you change things up?

Here's mine from today - dark skinny jeans, white v-neck tee with a scarf that I'm not 100% confident of and yet really like for some reason, and a gray cardi. Canvas shoes. No socks!! Hooray for spring!!
