I have always worn sundresses and sandals. Long, gauzy, cotton skirts with light tops are perfect, too. I've been to Disney with kids from very little on up, and I found dresses to dry far more quickly than shorts or pants of any kind, and they were cooler, too. Just make sure you can walk a marathon in whatever shoes or sandals you choose, and if you will be going on rides, be sure to carry a cross-body bag (the one and only time I prefer such a bag) with a zipper at the top.

I wore denim bermuda shorts and capris every day with tshirts. On my feet I had sandles or runners. I used a small cross body bag. I have posted pics of my footwear. I found the footwear so important due to all the pavement and heat. I also succumbed and wore a hat (which is hard due to my overall hatred of hats on my head).

I also carried a pocket-sized disposable poncho that I'd use for wet rides like Splash Mountain or the rapid river ride in Disney's Animal Kingdom (blanking out on the ride name right now; the Disneyland equivalent is Grizzly's River Run.)

Well, the one time I went, it was actually rainy for much of the time so I did wear jeans and fashion sneakers (Converse or sleek Pumas in fun colors, if I remember correctly.) But sundresses and sandals are the way that I go in warm weather most of the time; I'd wear lightweight knit dress and then a low-heeled sandal that fastens securely but comfortably to the foot. My Indigo by Clarks Brulee sandals are my absolute favorite for occasions like this, and they are still going strong.

Skechers makes some running shoes that don't look like running shoes at all.

In terms of what I'd wear, I'd go for something like the following:

http://www.amazon.com/SKECHERS.....B009WNVDZW(pic #1)

http://www.kutfromthekloth.com.....536ma1.htm (pic #2) (you can always get these in regular blue too, I'm sure Nordstrom has them as well).

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/vi.....&cont (pic #3)

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ce.....alcategory (pic #4)

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/co.....tualcatego (pic #5)

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/er.....#038;conte (not pictured - pricey, but it's a "squishee" travel hat, apparently)

http://www.sephora.com/ultimat.....dy-P173670 (pic #6)

Hope you have lots of fun!

And yes, I have got to second Nicole D - comfortable shoes are a must. A theme park is not the day to break in a new pair of shoes. If you have fussy feet, bring a second pair and rent a locker for the day. Every walking surface at Disney World is poured concrete - even if it looks like cobblestones - it is poured concrete. That's a lot of impact over the course of a day. So definitely plan for that.
Comfortable shoes. I wouldn't worry about what they look like, people wear some crazy @#$% at Disney. Just don't take any photos where your feet show. I did buy a cotton jersey wrap dress while I was there and wore it a few times (dinner). A hat is important Not too small of a bag. I brought a crossbody and a tote and ended up using the tote most of the time. A rain poncho is a good idea. And don't forget the ears.

I grew up in Central Florida, and even worked for The Mouse during college :) I've got so many happy memories of that place, and I hope you will come away with the same!

I have pretty strong feet, I usually wear ballet flats, or dance sneakers, which are lightweight, flexible, and give the arch of the foot super-support - and there are some really cute ones out there that don't scream 'TOURIST!'.

From April-Novemberish, I usually wear shorts, and a thin t-shirt that breathes. If I'm there when the temperture reaches a numbing 70 degrees, I wear long stretchy sports-pants, and layer long-sleeve fitted tissue-tees with tanks, topped with a cute sporty jacket. Stuff that you can peel off if the temperature should climb.

I forego a purse for my small red canvas Roxy backpack, which has travelled the world and held up remarkably well. In it I put my downscaled wallet (pared down to ID, cash, credit card, health insurance info, placed towards the bottom of the bag, to discourage theft), an extra tee shirt or long-sleeve tee (Florida is hot, but the AC is freeeezing), a rain poncho (I can't think of a day at Disney or Universal that it didn't involve 'unexpected', soaking RAIN for at least 20 minutes), sunglasses, small decanted bottle of sunscreen, small brush or comb, ponytail holder, colored lip balm or gloss, travel-size deodorant, an eyeliner pencil and mascara (I like to touch-up during the day), and one of those disposable plastic toothpick/mini toothbrush combos. I also bring some first-aid stuff: a couple of advil, antihistamine, extra bandaids, pepto-bismol tablets. And a camera!

I don't usually wear jewelry, except for some fun earrings.

My mom always brings snacks, and we always laugh at her, until we're stuck in line somewhere and STARVING. Then we flatter her shamelessly and she taunts us, and then she hands around the Kit Kat miniatures, and everybody is happy. Sticky, chocolatey, and happy.

I realize this sounds high maintenance, but for a 12-14 hour day of walking around in temperatures that can go from 65 in the AC, to 100 with the heat index, all in one visit, this usually keeps me feeling fresh and energetic through the day.

I also realize that this sounds like quite a lot to carry around, but it doesn't weigh a lot, I always end up using pretty much everything I bring (except, if I've been good, the credit card!), and it's cheaper than having to buy advil or bandaids, or a poncho inside the park.

Have a wonderful trip! :D

Thanks everyone! My daughter is very little, so no water rides or rollar coasters for most of the trip.

My running shoes are green and clunky, so they are hard to plan around. Maybe I will alternate Chaco flip flops and tennies.
We went to Universal Studios last year at the same time...I wore knee length leggings with a big loose tank top or t shirt (covering the tush of course), my 2 layer running socks and my running shoes with custom orthodics. Perfect for me, when I got wet the leggings dried very fast and the top was loose and cool. No blisters since I wore my running socks. Bring your own water into the park with you, they charge way too much! I didn't carry a purse, just my SPI belt for my room key, some money and ID. Everything else went into a backpack so DH and I could share carrying the load. Have fun!

I don't know how old your daughter is, but last time we went my son was 7 and was tall enough to go on every ride. We're talking roller coasters with loops and very wet water rides. I don't know if I'd wear a dress but I've seen some people do it. Personally, I sacrificed my style a bit for this trip in the footwear (running shoes). I didn't regret it. I would bring a light rain poncho and ziplock bags to keep your wallet and camera dry.

You're going to walk a lot so whatever shoes you choose need to be comfy. I would suggest shorts, capris, and cool tops. It's already in the 80's here. Poor Day Vies experienced what I think was the last of our cold weather. Alaskagirl's suggestion of a cross body bag is a good one. You'll need your hands free.
maybe instead of sneakers, what about Converse or Skechers? They are less sneaker looking but still offer comfort.
Ironkurtin also makes a good suggestion of closed toe shoes. It may rain and sandals will get squishy.
Let me know if you have any other questions; I live in the Disney area.

I wore comfy sandals by Jambu. Depending on what you are doing, you might get wet and soggy sneaks are not good . And I wore shorts or (uh-oh) capris and t-shirts because skirts and dresses are not so practical when hiking yourself and a kid in and out of rides or playing in some of the play areas. Bring a cross-body bag.

We are taking our little girl to Disney World in about a month, and I haven't quite nailed down what types of outfits to bring. I have some sundresses for dinners out, but I am not sure about the parks.

My main problem is that several people have told me to wear tennis shoes in the parks, and that limits what I can think of to wear. I am a sundress and sandals person in the warmer weather. Ideas?
