CXX -- broken record here to say what I always say when someone is looking for body type input. Measurements around your body are not as important as your relative width across those areas.

So if you dresss in form-fitting clothing such as leggings and a stretch-cami (you don't have to post a photo in this gear if you don't feel comfortable, but you can post from the neck down if you do) and stand with your arms relaxed at your sides, look in a full-length mirror.

Shoulders wider than hips and not much of a defined waist? Inverted Triangle. Shoulders about the same as hips and not much of a defined waist? Racy Rectangle (slimmer build) or Apple (less slim build). Shoulders and hips more or less the same and a very distinct waist -- noticeably curving in and out? Hourglass. Shoulders narrower than hips and waist may or may not be defined? Pretty Pear.

Thank you very much @Firecracker and @Joy very helpful... most likely a mistake of triangle and hourglass but I'm really small boned and skinny so I think more on the inverted triangle side.
Much appreciated I look forward to many more times here

I agree with Firecracker. You sound like an hourglass. Look at Angie's guidelines for dressing an hourglass figure. If your shoulders are really noticeably wide, you may want to read the inverted triangle guidelines too.

My best guess is an hourglass; your measurements are pretty firmly in the classic hourglass category. It's hard to tell from measurements alone, though, as it's partly how your shoulders and hips relate in width.

Welcome to the forum! If you have a chance to get some photos as you are trying on dresses, you can post the photos for feedback here.

I have never been too sure but what would you say my body type is??? I never really tried before but recently I have been asked to be a bridesmaid and I get to choose a dress of my own picking, so I want a flattering dress (strictly NO strapless or backless)
My measurements in Inches
5"8 with wide shoulders
Chest :34
Waist: 23
Hips: 36 (definite hips not laterals)
I have tried body calculators (online) but apparently my body type isn't one of the others. Can anyone please help me? Thank you
PS: I'm new here so hello to you lovely ladies and/of gents
Xo
