I think subdued metallics are actually more versatile than black.</p> <p>It also depends on how many shoes you have or can afford. If you only have a few pairs of flats and they have to be workhorses, then I'd choose pewter. They are very cushioned and supportive inside for flats. They are fairly soft and flexible, so I don't know how they'd work for you.
