I am not a big repeater so I can only really count my ink blue Boss overcoat (purchased this summer on super discount at the Rack). It goes with everything from casual to work. It's warm, but not bulky. It fits over work clothes (blazers etc..) and still feels tailored.

My favorite winter purchases:

A red duffle coat with hood, Ellen Tracy, from Nordstrom. Not planned but I love it and wear it about every other day. On sale, so a good deal.

Slim leg Princess Mary Tartan pants from Pendleton. Comfortable, a change from all my solid pants. They go with red, blue, or black. Love them.

A pale grey Burberry plaid cashmere scarf. Used my Nordstrom Notes for this one, so really a freebie. Warm, goes with everything, flattering to my coloring, looks good with my black, navy and red coats.

I have been stuck on the farm most of the winter, but the times I have gotten to the city, I've worn mostly variations on the same outfits with a lot of happiness. Picking olive as a neutral and buying two pair of boots, the Aquatalia and olive Pikolinos (booties with ties, a little more refined than the ones in my picks but same color) have made my winter city wardrobe lean but pleasing.

Some time back Angie did a round-up of outfits and there was a utility jacket with a red buffalo plaid. I switched it to blue (took forever to find, settled for menswear version) and have worn both items a lot this winter, together mostly. I am liking the cobalt buffalo check sweater a lot too.

And when we were at a conference in Chicago, with an unexpected chance to go to a blues club, I wore the leather tank with the utility jacket, blue denim bootcuts and the Aquatalias and felt amazed I actually owned and brought something for the occasion.

Those have been my winter victories so far.

I'm head over heels for fresh plaids -- two shirts and a wool scarf in grays and reds. Also my new colorblocked citron/olive scarf - another Angie pick -- that adds a colorful punch to the same dark eggplant down parka I wear every. single. day.

Living in an area that has been pelted with snow, I have to say that my mid-thigh shearling waterproof LL Bean boots (a discontinued style, or I would link then), LL Bean thick wool socks, and a Kenzie just-below-the-knee quilted, hooded, puffer jacket are my most used items. Outerwear aside, I love my Hue sweater tights that make my mid-thigh length skirt and sweater pairings a bit warmer.

Not very exciting or glamorous, but my most loved (and needed) purchases this winter have been flannel lined jeans (2 pairs) and a puffer coat. As I have spent a great amount of my time this season "digging out" from various storms and waiting for the bus in inclement weather, these items have been workhorses. I also purchased a few pairs of mid-calf and tall boots that have gotten a lot of wear.

Super fun to read all your replies.
I have been extremely happy with all my NAS purchases, and with the items I picked up in Seattle.

- Brown Munro booties and black Seychelles turned out to be extremely comfortable. They've become real workhorses.
- Joie turtleneck and Equipment floral print sweaters (one of my very favourite items this Winter, something about the silhouette is very flattering, and the colours are beautiful).
- Trouvé gilet (*waving to Sveta*) was a wild card for me as well. It's super versatile and I'll continue to wear it into our chilly Spring.
- AT tunic shirt in white and ink blue. Fabulous length, great on their own, just as great as layering pieces.
- AT black tux jacket. I'm so glad I listened to Angie and bought this. Also a wild card, as I almost never wear black close to my face. But because I can layer tops, shirts and pullovers underneath, it's working out splendidly, and it has added a different silhouette jacket to my wardrobe. Always a bonus.
- BR pinstriped wool blazer. I love a good pinstripe, and this blazer practically goes with everything I own. (and again, a very flattering cut).
- My plaid cape coat. Such a fun piece, and a great lightweight coat for Fall.
- My three plaid shirts. What can I say, I was crazy for plaid this season:-)

My top pics:

Everlane cashmere sweaters - I bought two, deep taupe and a deep rose or marsala red - wore them a lot and plan to wear them again next fall/winter.

Landsend wool navy peacoat - only wore it a few times this year, but I hope to wear it for many years to come and it was sure nice to be extra warm on a few extra cold days.

Vince Camuto gray leather satchel - still wearing this until I switch out for spring

Booties - Lucky suede for non-wet days and I wore my black Hush Puppies from last year quite a lot this year as well.

EB "sleep" tee - this one ended up being a weekend tee for me. I love that it "says" winter but keeps me comfortable in our Texas winter with some days often in the 70's and 80's.

I'm plus size (16-18, 1x) so imagine the below list from Lane Bryant more than Gap and BR. :-) I also live in California so our winter needs are less demanding. :-)

Go-to's this winter:

Boyfriend jeans in a dark wash---I wear/wore them everywhere on weekends.

Black NYDJ straight legs---skinny jeans don't look great on my ampleness so when I need an edgier casual look these are my go-to. Love them but unfortunately they are starting to gray out due to washing---I'm thinking of trying to overdye them with black to get that good dark color again.

Me Too black suede short boots....don't know what I'm gonna do when these finally wear out

Black neoprene ballet flats with a rubber sole (go with everything, in any weather, and I don't need socks!!) I think mine are Clarks or Naturalizer.

Black pashmina scarf (also goes with everything and my neck is always cold)

Black cashmere hoodie layered over a long or short sleeve tee

Black and gray stripe knit boyfriend blazer over a black or gray tee

Grey and black striped breton top

Black puffer coat when it dips below 65 degrees

Most of my "me" clothes as described above are worn on weekends since I work a very conservative job all week...Black trousers, black structured jacket, collared button up shirt in deep or jewel colors are my standard work go-tos. I've grown to appreciate the fact that the strict dress code makes weeklong dressing simple and quite honestly it works for my style which is modern classic.

This year I am starting to add in jewelry and scarves to mix it up -- never bothered with jewelry or accessories before but I love them now. They're easy to update frequently and on a whim, so i get the fun of shopping for them often.

I didn't buy very many items this winter... my favorite purchases
comprise almost all of my purchases! With the exception of a bad sweater
and of a couple of useful but not very special t-shirts.

Here they are:

1.
Columbia Minx Omni Heat Snow Boots in Gray. They are not the most
stylish option, so it's not about aesthetics, but they are SO
FUNCTIONAL. So warm, so weatherproof, so easy to put on and take off, so
easy to tuck pants into (even trousers and bootcuts), and so
comfortable it's like walking on pillows. I wear them almost everyday
either as commuter shoes or as part of a casual outfit.

2. Gap Merino Crewneck Cardigan in Heather Green. Although it is a basic, I like how fine and soft the fabric is; it feels so light and refined on me. The color is also unusual for my wardrobe. I always feel well-dressed in it (if not always as warm as in other sweaters).

3. Bare Traps Sheree Snow Boot in Black. I realized that living in the Midwest I couldn't just own one pair of snowboots for the whole darn very long winter. I wanted something dressier than the Columbia boots, and which I could also wear with dresses and skirts. The Bare Traps are not as warm and comfortable, and likely won't last as long, so I don't wear them as often and also I don't wear them when it is really, really cold. But they've helped liven up my options and they've inspired new outfits.

I didn't purchase much this winter, but my absolute favorite and smartest purchase was my Land's End puffer coat (an Angie recommendation). This has been a super cold winter and this coat has kept me toasty warm. I have been wearing it every day. Other than that, it's my knit-blanket-like poncho, knit off-white sweater, and plaid ultra-thick sweatpant/leggings, all from F21.

Also, two emerson fry cotton cardigans, one in light grey and one in almost black, are the most worn clothing items of the winter. Most worn footwear item, waterproof black shearling lined moto boots that I got from bloomingdales online, but can't find anymore. Much as I love all my other boots I've had to wear these and my red Icebug hiking boots most of the time.

My favorite Winter buys so far were actually inspired by Joy's gorgeous white-out ensemble in her photo above: a lusciously thick, oversized cashmere sweater from Zara in a creamy rose beige that happened to harmonize beautifully with my new pair of Gap boyfriend cords and long-sleeved tee in a pale shade called Dull Rose. I wear them with a gauzy pink cashmere muffler, (Portolano--also new) my favorite Rag & Bone short taupe boots, and a cream-colored Northface down jacket--a hand-me-down from my daughter!

Mine were purchased in the fall but I wore them all winter.
Long vests and culottes were the most unexpected wild cards which became workhorses. Tall dressy boots were a lucky find as well because they made it possible to wear those culottes in winter.

I've most enjoyed my silvery puffer from Laundry by Shelli Segal, a NAS purchase. Other favorites have been plaid Jolt jeans from the Rack, Smart Wool socks from REI, and an asymmetric light grey cashmere sweater. I am still needing to wear winter things. The newest favorite is a pair of tweedy track pants from the Rack that reminded me of an EF pair.

Two big cardis that were a huge style departure for me (in finds). They replaced my blazers and made me feel stylish and cozy. Between the two of them they went with every outfit I had.

Paul Green suede booties in a gray-green, and tall suede boots in black. They were amazing for my fussy feet. The gray-green color toned fabulously with taupe, gray, or olive pants. The tall boots fit closely around the ankle and looked wonderful with skirts. They are both out of stock now and un-findable.

Also unfindable, KUT black brocade skinnies (Angie pick last year). They added just a little oomph when I wanted black pants but didn't feel like wearing trousers.

UmmLila - LOL!

But I'm still always interested in perfecting my uniform so please add your favorites! I never did get that Everlane cardigan, I decided the Free People served the same purpose. The FP knitwear can get ratty in a year's time though so maybe I'll try it next year if you still think it's a favorite.

UmmLila: Thanks for the help. And how do you get them actually into your post? Sorry, still learning here. And I'm planning on heading into city (District of Columbia) to check out AllSaints. Looking forward to exploring this store.

AM: Basically you get a bookmarklet to identify your finds and add them. This is how to do finds: http://youlookfab.com/2014/05/.....fab-finds/

I have not added any finds here because I have concluded that Cocolion and I have spent the winter wearing the same kinds of things on the day to day basis. She probably doesn't wear the giant puffers over top. Also, I might have gotten overly obsessed with AllSaints.

Well, this has been a weird Fall/Winter for me. Foot surgery in October meant that I have spent many weeks NOT dressing for clients. And, I should confess, I have been quite a few sedentary pounds above my normal weight. All combined for a very casual list of winners this Winter! Only a few are in Finds, but I'll try to list them in order of number of wears:

1. Brooks Addiction Walkers...the ugliest sneakers on the planet, but they're what the doctor ordered, and they got me walking again.
2. Gap 1969 Real Straight jeans...gotta love a jean that makes me feel skinny when I'm most definitely not!
3. LL Bean All Weather Commuter coat...the dog-walking coat that kept me toasty and dry all Winter
4. ON V-neck sweaters. Bought them super cheap around Thanksgiving, and have worn them ridiculously often. They probably won't survive another season, but I am so grateful to have had them.
5. ON and Urban Outfitters tunic-length flannel plaid shirts...great "coverage" and so easy.
6. ON sweats for loungewear...lived in these for several weeks. now can't wait to get back in them in the evening.
7. NYDJ black leggings...these got me through all social/holiday events when nothing else fit the way it should. I wore them to dinner tonight, and they were really big...hooray!

Great topic!

I checked my spreadsheet (thanks YLF! I track my wears). My Canada Goose puffer and my J Crew cashmere turtleneck. I was worried that the coat was overkill in Southern NH, but I run cold and bought it anyway as I had been eyeballing it for years. Anyway, temps here have been below zero with and without windchill on and off since November and I have ZERO regrets.
