Living in a place where summers get hot and humid, I'd find a denim jacket, the ideal solution, too hot. What about dressing it down with a denim shirt tied at the waist? It could even be a sleeveless shirt. I'm thinking tied and maybe buttoned some at the bottom to cover the top ruffle but show the neckline as if it were a cami. It's a lovely dress but really hard to give advice without seeing it on a real person. To dress it down you could try a lightweight blazer maybe in a colour like pale aqua which would look beautiful with the deep warm red. Add some flat sandals, maybe silver, and a fun clutch in citron.
