The skirt is so beautiful and refreshing. I hate to see you give up on it, so hope you will post pictures of yourself wearing it with a fitted top.
There is a lot of detail going on with the skirt and looks like it would be very interesting to shorten. Like Nicole said if you shorten it from the top it would probably have to be then taken in at the sides and the pattern on the skirt might then be askew.
I hope you can make it work as is.

Maybe a navy blue top, with a jean cropped jacket and a pair of wedges!

Hmmm I think we need to address the length before we talk about what to wear with it. If it's too long, the only way to shorten it is thru the waist. This may or may not be feasable, since it's got a bit of flare with insert panels. Shortening it from the top may make it too wide to actually take in. If it can be shortened and then taken in, it would be be a costly alteration. How much would you be willing to spend on alterations?

That's a great skirt, very interesting. I can DEFINITELY see it working in a funky and non-"sweet" way. Kyle, would you post a picture of you in the skirt and/or describe your style and some potential tops to us? I think you're new to the forum, correct? (apologies if I missed you; I haven't been keeping up that welll lately...) It will totally help us give tips.

If I had that skirt, I'd try and pair with my sleeveless black cowl neck top or a v-neck top and red sandals. I imagine that a relatively simple top, either sleeveless or with snug sleeves, will make the skirt look less "sweet". I'd avoid puffy sleeves or a collar. For cooler temperatures, I'd pair it with a cropped denim jacket.

I can see other colors working with the skirt as well - depends on what you like and what's flattering on you. Maybe a fuchsia, kelly green, a mustardy yellow, rich red could work on top (but it's hard to figure out the exact shade of blue in a photo). And again, I'd keep the top simple and let the skirt do the talking.

It would be great to see the length on you. If it's below the knee, it probably is too long.

What colors do you wear often? Some shade of orange might jazz it up a bit, if that's a color you wear well.

This is a cute skirt that I have never known what to wear with. Some tops make it look too young and sweet, which is not me. I'd like to wear it in a bit of an unexpected way. It is too long, I think, as it ends below the knee and tends to look a bit matronly. I'm not sure if it's worth shortening, as I never wear it now. Suggestions on creative colors and styles that might work?
