Thanks for responding Ingunn - I'm glad it works & it is hard to see weight from a photo.

Thank you for all advice! It is always very interesting to read, and very helpful too.

I realize that burgundy tights are not everyone's cup of tea, but I do like the combination of these particular tights with my brown booties because the tonal value is very similar (and thus this combo creates an unbroken line), so I decided to give it a try today. I also chose the flower blouse with the skirt - outfit #2. I received a few compliments for my outfit, but also a lot of long glances which could mean anything:) I felt good about it, and will be wearing this again. Thank you Angie, for supporting my choice:)

This evening I'm going out with some friends, and now I've swapped the skirt for jeans to make the outfit casual. It's very nice, like you suggested, Krishnidoux.

In regard of the weight of the fabrics (Caro): The turtle neck is in a thin viscose, so in my opinion there is no conflict between the thin blouse and the turtleneck. Maybe it reads as heavier in the photo?

But the best part today was wearing the red coat! I received so many compliments from my colleagues, delivered in an enthusiastic voice, so I think it was a success. I'm so happy that I gave this a second thought and swapped from camel to red. Camel is pretty, but red is much more ME! Next step must be to incorporate more red in my wardrobe, I think. So much fun!

I like #2 best. And #3 second.

I am usually not a fan of non-neutral tights, but they look like leggings in your outfit and bookend your top so perfectly! I love that outfit :)

And your coat looks divine with the deep red tights. Tonal!

Love the coat! (Had to say that again).
The blouses aren't working imo either - something about the weight of them with the turtlenecks. Does your navy cashmere work with the skirt?

I agree with Deb.
Answers to your questions:

1- preferably, no. Because the end effect is a column of burgundy with a skirt and a shirt thrown over it, as an after thought, or as if you were too cold.

2- For this occasion, I would go for the beige blouse with a beige cami under it, skipping the burgundy turtleneck. You could wear some pearls too? (Or is that too dressy?)

3 - From this pic in this light, the tights do not look hideous at all with the coat. It's a gorgeous coat BTW. But you have to see in daylight if it clashes.

I like the fashion forwardness of the burgundy turtleneck worn under the flower shirt. But in terms of proportion and texture, given it brings a lot of (good) attention to you top half, I would wear this with pants. My first choice would go for wide brown pants+heels, but do try it with skinnies, it might look awesome.

I understand the pattern mixing from flower shirt with the skirt's material, and I think it is quite interesting; however, not with the turtleneck in that case; because there already is a contrast between the turtleneck and the shirt, so another contrast is distracting.

Tomorrow, I would wear the skirt with the brown tights and brown booties, it creates a very nice line, without drawing too much attention to your legs, which are fantastic, but just sayin' due to the nature of the event.

Please post more creations!

Ingunn none of these are are quite there to me:( I really like the idea but I am not sure about the layering here. How about swapping #1 around a bit. Remove the burgandy top, tuck in the white blouse, change the burgundy hose for the brown and add a patterned scarf to some subtle pattern mixing. Please take my thoughts with a grain of salt, as I think I am not as adventurous as you. I love that skirt.

Another vote for #3. The boots and tights work so well with the skirt, and the burgundy turtleneck is an unexpected accent. Love it with the coat too!

like 3 best, I like that the hose and shoes work nicely together. The tights in 4 don't read too burgundy, just a little different version of red so I think it works! Nice outfit! and great skirt.

We're having a big meeting/conference at our school tomorrow, and I want to dress nicely, but not *dressy*, if you understand. No need for suits since I'm mot giving a presentation myself. I've played around with a skirt today, but I wonder:

1. Can I wear burgundy turtleneck and tights in the same outfit?
2. What is best for the occasion and with this skirt - the transparent hi-low blouse, or pattern mixing with the flowery blouse?
3. Can I wear my red coat with the burgundy tights, or is it hideous? I could add the red polka dots for even more red nuances and some pattern! No?

The photos look a bit funny, I had to be really quick about it today :)
#1: Burgundy turtleneck, cream transparent blouse, burgundy tights
#2: Flowery blouse, the rest is the same
#3: The same as in #2 except for brown tights
#4: Red coat, burgundy tights. Yay or nay?

Thanks for looking! Any advice is very much appreciated.
