Lori's suggestion of a pants suit is spot on. A skirt suit with knee high heeled boots and pretty sheer hose is another option. You'll also need a beautiful long wool coat, pretty scarf and dainty gloves.

Place a fashionable, fine knit under your suit for warmth instead of a shirt, and layer a camisole underneath that for warmth.

I'd pair your wrap dress with dressy heeled knee high boots and sheer hose because its prettier that way. Wrap up with coat, dressy scarf and dressy gloves (nothing chunky and woolly) and Bobs your uncle.

I think that matte, opaque tights in black with black patent shoes look really smart. The shoes could even be faux-croc, or have patent accents instead of being all patent, either way the idea is that the texture of the tights and shoes differ while the colours are the same.

Opaque tights in black/brown ( depending on the color of your dress) would work IMO. You can also layer the dress over a very thin silky fitted long sleeve T ( would look like a cami). The coat should probably be a nice fitted wool one.
As for the shoes, I would wear some nice pumps that are comfy, maybe a stacked heel or wedge in color that matches the tights.

If it were me, and i get cold easily, i'd wear a pant suit with a pretty shirt - not a typical button-up that would look too much like you were going to work. That way, you can stay warm and look elegant at the same time.

Angie, great idea for the new forum!! I check your site everyday and love all the tips!
I have a Holy Communion to attend in March, in Michigan- can be very cold. I like wrap dresses, but I'm wondering what sort of hose, shoes and coat to wear especially because it can be very cold in March. I want to dress appropriately, it's a happy occasion and somewhat formal. Are opaque tights ok? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!
