Kari, just wanted to say that I hope you have a great trip! Las Vegas is fun, and the weather there will definitely be a nice break from what we've been having in Seattle (I also live here).

I think a few other people covered the most important things -- such as being prepared for the difference between the indoor/outdoor temperatures, and making sure to have good walking shoes. The only thing I'd add is that, even if you bring the wildest dress you own for nights out, it may still end up feeling very conservative once you see what other women often wear in Las Vegas

Kari, you could even take a quick dip in the hotel's pool, pool season will already be open in Las Vegas. I was there just a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. You're very lucky!

Oooh, I like the idea of mixing & matching based around a black pencil skirt (which I do have.) That's a good point about the air conditioning too, Kyle. And thanks for the tip about comfortable footwear.

The tips about the dress code are helpful, too. I guess the main concern is making sure that I have a wardrobe that will be suitable for hot-to-overly AC'd temperatures for the business events.

To be honest, I am pretty excited about the warm weather, because it has been just miserable in Seattle this week! So tired of rain.

Kari, it will be hot already, so plan for that, and you will do a lot of walking. If you had a black sheath or pencil skirt, it could take you from day to a dressier evening look with a change of footwear and accessories. You will want to layer, as the air conditioning can get quite chilly. Perhaps a jacket or a cardigan would work for you. Wear what makes you feel good, as truly anything goes in Vegas. You will see it all- the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Just about anything goes in Las Vegas (I mean fashion wise, tee hee!) You will see everything from jeans and t's to evening gowns at the shows. A nice cocktail type dress would be great for a show as well as your evening event at the fancy club. Sun dresses, sandals and cardi's for evening will come in handy. and smart casual for your business days and you will be all set.

ps. bring comfortable walking shoes, everything is very spread out if you don't take taxi's everywhere. Even the hotels seem like miles long to get from your room to anything else within the hotel.

I hope that helps!

have fun, good luck!

Well, it will be hot already- so take that into account. I'd bring something more formal for your one event, business casual for the conference and casual for your personal days (daytime Vegas is pretty casual). Between the three, I think you should be able to mix and match outfits for anything you'd want to do.

Also, if it helps or makes any difference, we will be staying & having many of our professional events take place at Caesar's Palace.

Later in Spring - over a month away - I will be in Las Vegas for a few days for a work conference. I've never been at all before, so I'm curious as to what I should expect & wear. Here's a bit more info:

This is a professional event centered around a topic that I am trying to learn more about. I am more on the "guest" side of the event, not on the "sales" side (as some of the other attendees will be representatives from vendors who we either use now, or who would like to obtain our business, and they tend to dress more professionally.) I went to a similar conference held in my home city of Seattle a while ago, and the dress code was pretty much standard business casual for people in my position.
However, one of our vendors has also scheduled an evening event at what looks like a very fancy lounge club at one of the major casinos.

I will also be taking a couple personal days after the event is over with to spend some time there with my boyfriend, who has been to Las Vegas several times. I don't think we would do anything particularly fancy - he is a strictly jeans and tee shirt kind of guy - but I would like to see at least one major show if we can make it work (such as Cirque du Soleil.)

What sort of wardrobe would you recommend given the weather & the events/setting in question? I know this is a ways off, but I would like to plan ahead.
