Thanks for the replies. I desperately wish I could shop for boots right now, but until graduation I'm expecting to do a lot of penny-pinching. I think boots would be a great wardrobe addition, but I'll have to hold out for a while, unfortunately.

Or try and get a pair of knee high boots on sale right now. You'll continue to get a lot of wear out of this item.

Hmmm why can't you still wear a skirt or dress w/out the boots? A pair of tights and closed shoe (like a classic pump) will keep you comfortable between the car and the dining room. You won't be eating or socializing outside, will you?

I'm going to be attending an Easter brunch with my family at a golf and country club. Naturally, jeans are not permitted, and usually this wouldn't be a problem if it were warm out (skirt or dress and you're set), but since I'm in Canada, it's still cold and likely will be come Sunday! I don't have anything like knee-high boots so I'm basically stuck with pants. My only thought so far has been to wear wide-leg black or charcoal grey pants with a button-down and my favourite purple wrap sweater, but I'm concerned that this look is more "office job" than Sunday brunch. Any advice?
