Hi Christine, glad to see you posting again! How was your sister's wedding? How did the dress turn out? Not sure if I missed it - did you ever post what the end product looked like?

Personally, I think that if the type of jobs you are looking for are in a business formal setting, a full suit (skirt or pants) is the way to go. Keep stalking the stores - maybe even try to hit some in the bigger city for more options. Otherwise, I would say try the black blazer & charcoal pants. I just feel that a printed skirt is a little casual for business formal - especially for accounting/finance.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. Now to decide which blouse.

It has been a crazy summer indeed, and it's not over yet. The house is on the market today. I just really, really hope everything works out timing wise. Fun, fun, fun!

Christine, you sound like you've had quite a summer! I agree with the others tht your skirt, black jacket and blouse in a color would look great. Looking at Vani's outfit with black jacket over a yellow-gold top makes me think that some shade of yellow or gold would be striking with yours.
I also think you could wear a white blouse under the black jacket even if the skirt has cream, as long as it isn't optic white. You could wear a colorful silk scarf or piece of jewelry or a flower brooch on your jacket.

I agree with April. Black jacket, colored blouse, patterned skirt - sounds great!

Christine - so nice to see you post again! I had just been wondering where you were.

Sounds like a lot is going on for you - best of luck on your interview. I like the sound of the patterned skirt, black jacket, and boldly-colored blouse. What color - red? I can picture that with black and cream.

I know it's been ages & ages since I've posted regularly, and I'm sorry. Life got crazy busy. I'm trying to finish up my tax clients, sell my house, orchestrate a move to a city 2 hours away, look for a job, and enjoy the summer. It's crazy.

As I said, we're going to be moving which means I'll be looking for a new job. I just sent off my resume to a head hunter/employment agency specializing in accounting & finance jobs, and dh & I are going to be in the city we're moving to for another appt on Monday, so I suspect I'll have some type of employment related meeting/interview on that day as well.

My current office is business casual, but I usually dress on the more business side of things. The jobs I'll be looking at in the new city will be more business formal. I just thrifted a gorgeous silk black & cream graphic printed pencil skirt. I don't have time for pics, but the closest I could find online was here http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1.....921x00003d except my skirt is black with cream dots, and the band at the bottom of the skirt has a pattern as well. I have a great fitting black blazer to wear with it. I'm not 100% sure what color blouse to wear under the jacket. I figure I can't do white because of the cream in the skirt. Would a softer, more pastel color be better, or could I go for a bolder color? The bolder color would be more 'me'.

I don't currently have a 'real' suit and can't really afford one right now. I've been stalking the thrift store & have picked up a couple of good pieces. I could wear my black blazer with my charcoal dress pants. I have a hard time wearing black jacket & black pants for a couple of reasons. One is the fear that the blacks won't match, and second, I just don't like that much black. I also have a charcoal blazer, but it's got some military styling (epaulet type tabs on the shoulder, and a tab in the back with a gathered section below the tab) and the military styling doesn't seem formal enough for an interview.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!
