They were $300 then and I wouldn't even venture to guess what they would cost now. </p> <p>I do have some cognac lucky ones that are vaguely western, although I could never compete with real cowboy boots, especially my friend (the host's) collection. </p> <p>I am going to look for aprons, great suggestion. </p> <p>Joy I love the reindeer ears idea! </p> <p>Ooh! I&nbsp;just &nbsp;remembered that DH inherited his Dad's bolo tie collection. DH's dad was&nbsp;the child of Dutch immigrants to&nbsp;Toronto and the family moved to Boston when he was a very young child.&nbsp;He retired to Sedona Arizona and although he was totally uninterested in fashion he collected&nbsp;turquoise/silver bolo ties when he lived there. We are always looking for excuses to wear them. </p> <p>Thinking jeans, denim shirt with sleeves rolled,&nbsp;bolo tie, cognac boots, and a fun apron. Will have to get an apron for DH too unless he wants to wear the black google-logo one he got somewhere. </p> <p>Thanks! I understand it's a big fun messy event where all generations gather to "gossip and make tamales " to quote my dear old friend and work colleague who is hosting. He grew up in Mexico and his wife is from South Texas and when they make traditional food from those regions it's always a real treat.</p> <p>Other than wearing clothes suitable for messy cooking fun, are there any sartorial traditions for this event? </p>
