In this kind of situation we usually use semi-formal attire instead of real black tie unless the invitation says different&nbsp;(but some extra sophistication added by accessories or small details are perfectly ok). Shoes should still be classy but exchange high fine heels by lower and thicker options are also good idea (the barn can have a nice floor, but there will probably be some areas with natural floor as well). What does the invitation say about dress code in this case? The only thing that give me pause are the bench seats versus chairs. It would be awkward to ask the bride or groom about which will be used but I would consider calling the venue to find out. Don't go ultra-formal, but typical wedding attire would be fine. Like outdoor wedding attire. Since the ceremony is in a church, I don't think they would expect super casual dress.</p> <p>ETA: I just looked at the website and it looks similar to where I got married. Ours was outdoors but a similar vibe. Most women wore garden party type dresses and some of the older women wore Chanel-ish suits. It seems to be a barn venue created on a farm to host weddings and such but now my dresses don't seem appropriate. The ceremony is on a Friday, late afternoon in church and cocktails, dinner and dancing follow at the barn. I always dress up dressy for weddings but that doesn't seem appropriate when we will be eating dinner seated on wood benches.
