Thanks a lot ladies, for the advice and the good wishes !

I did wear outfit number 2, I just got different trousers: I spotted a nice dark grey wollen pair that has two rows of buttons in the front and I bought them. The nice thing about the buttons is that I can open the tops ones as my belly grows and then the next ones a month later.
And I had a lot of fun. The dancing was very easy, and very energetic ! The other ladies were all in trousers, so I am glad that I was too !

Congratulations. Yes, I agree with the other ladies, you don't look pregnant at all for now, and outfit #2 looks best.

Huge congratulations on your pregnancy! I say show off that belly as much as possible. It's beautiful.

I think I prefer the second outfit too, but I'm new here, so give more weight to the advice you'll get from more experienced ladies. I'm not sure about the cardi... it seems a bit awkward with both outfits. Do you have any other options you could try as toppers?

Congrats on your pregnancy - and believe it or not, you don't look it at all! Anyway, even if you did, it's trendy now to show off your bump.

I agree with Christine - I prefer the second outfit as well. Since it's a scottish party, can you find yourself a tartan scarf? That's what I would do... just wear a basic outfit and throw on a tartan scarf and call it a day.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I prefer the second outfit. The cropped cardi with the high waisted skirt in the first doesn't work for me. Maybe there's too much going on with the skirt & the cardi together. I love both pieces separately, though. I also think that the pants are 'safer' since you're not sure how dressed up everyone else will be. If the rest of the students are in jeans, you'll feel overdressed in that beautiful skirt, I think.

I've been invited to a Scottish party at a University. That means I have almost nothing to wear, since my wardrobe is quite empty after I chucked out tons of stuff when I went down a size. Also, I'm in that stage of pregnancy where a lot of my stuff is too tight for me, but maternity trousers are still too loose.
I'll probably look at some shops tomorrow, but it's possible that I won't find the thing I'm looking for, and I'll have to go with one of these.

The event will probably call for smart-casual wear... actually I have no idea. There could be just scruffy students, but it's also possible that everyone will look very stylish.

I also needed to dress in layers, in case I will get warm with the dancing.

So:

Outfit no. 1
I still have to buy some warm tights for this. Also, I look pregnant in it, which is normally a good thing, but maybe not among students that I don't know (I will feel terribly old !)
I can't decide if the stripes make me look wider or distract the eye from the belly...
The black sweater is made of chunky wool, and has little sequin decorations on it. Below it is a simple brown V-neck.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....063196469/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....063196477/

Outfit no. 2
The photos have different trousers... it's not very imaginative, but I will jazz it up with some interesting silver jewellery.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....063196481/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....063196487/

So... any thoughts ? I am beginning to get more and more pessimistic as the time goes on...
