Hi Archer, I started one in Feb:). Is it a style blog you are talking about? If so, it's a fun thing to do (as ate other types of blogs).

It has been a great souce of enjoyment, and learning. I use Blogger. It is free and very user friendly. I use computers and technology daily but I wouldn't describe myself as particularly tech savvy and I have been able to work everything out for myself.

I spent some time scouring blogs that I like and don't like and that helped me work out how I wanted to present my own blog. I noted that not all bloggers post daily (phew). I am a reasonably busy working mum and the idea of blogging daily just sent me into an anxiety attack lol. My goal is to post a "good/interesting" blog post once a week. Sometimes I post twice a week and sometimes it might be little longer than a week between posts, but I don't put too much pressure on myself... I want it to be fun, not a burden.

I enjoy reading blogs and have my faves all saved into a folder on my IPad. I read style blogs daily. Managing your own blog can take as much time or as little time as you want. I do check daily as I like to respond to comments quickly, and I might spend an hour or two a week writing my posts.

I recommend it. It's a brilliant learning experience and is breat a creative outlet. If no one was reading it, I would still do it:)

Here is roughly what I wrote a few days ago on the similar thread in Off topic:

It's a commitment. That was the main thing for me.

I had (still have?) a private blog through which I kept my close friends and family updated about our family news. It was a shortcut to emailing everyone individually and endless agreeing on the best time to Skype.

I was fun. I was writing a lot, it was my creative outlet (much needed and the only other me-thing I had in addition to YLF), I was keeping track of the fun things we did, all my photos were sorted, edited, etc. But it takes time, a lot of it.

As my blog was sort of timeline, I also found that once I'd fall of the track, it was impossible to catch up. Better just say "back after unplanned absence" and start from where, than to back-feed all the missing content.

But, I miss my blog and I plan to reactivate it, perhaps not the same one but something that would be my space. Which is why I'm thinking of concept. I think it's important to know what your blog is about - style, lifestyle, travel log, anything else defined... there should be a common theme, rather than mish-mash of things, at least I think. May sound contradictory that by identifying the need for a creative outlet I also advocate certain discipline in what to post, but I personally know those are the blogs I personally like to follow to most. I can actually dive in them, if it makes any sense.

Of course, the question is who would your blog be for, who'd read it? Private audience or anyone? That drives a lot of things too.

I just have my own Youlookfab blog which is basically a replication of any threads I start on the forum. You can choose whether or not for it to be visible to non-members also. Each time I do a WIW, (or any other post I start, for that matter), I get the option to check a box which asks if I want it to be shown on my blog. I decided to make mine a members only option. I don't have to do any extra writing, just the options to tweek the design within Youlookfab is all the extra work involved. I know some members do have proper websites, so hopefully they will chime in.

Quite a few YLF veterans have your own blogs and websites connected via YLF. I am wondering how you find it as a part of your routine etc. Basically, what should I consider in making the to blog or not to blog -decision?
What are your thoughts re doing it, reading them, not doing one etc.
Thanks Archer,
