On #1, I *think* you're right! Reading this post reminded me I bought a cheap pair from target (not actual silk obviously) to try out trend...they are somewhere in my closet and I haven't pulled tags yet. So I guess we're in the same boat as far as what to wear with them. I was thinking a simple flowy tee to hide elastic band on mine, but that might be too much volume.

From looking at Internet, I also liked them paired with a blazer and heels, so I think your idea to go dressy is right on!!

Hi Michelle! I haven't been brave enough to try track pants yet but can't wait to see you try them out. Dip your toes in and let me know how the water is?
Great to see you here again, from another infrequent poster.

Hi Michele! Track pants are completely over my head fashion wise and will defer to others with more experience in such things...I just wanted to say hi!

The fit sounds good if you mean somewhat slouchy/flowy legs but good fit in the behind.

I think that that top sounds good-- a faux wrap top with a leather jacket might be another good pairing.

Ah, Michelle, it is so good to hear from you. Welcome back!

Believe it, or not, I actually bought a pair of dressy, light-weight wool sweatpants to wear this winter. This, from someone who swore she'd never wear boyfriend, slouchy pants!

Like you, I had originally thought of pairing mine with a more fitted tops and jackets, but I was totally surprised to find that I much preferred wearing mine with fluid hi-low sweaters and welted, silky tops. As long as the tops fit nicely in the armhole region, the fluid tops seem to skim and drape over my non-existent waist. My favorite sweater has a curved hem that hits at my waist in the front (just covering the waistband of the pant) and then dips to just below hip in the back. The curved line is quite flattering. I also like wearing my asymmetrical sweater which has a diagonal line from one hip to the other. I think the dramatic cut of the hemline provides enough structure to keep the overall look fluid, not baggy.

Michelle, so wonderful to hear from you. It sounds as if you have added some amazing new pieces to your closet! I can't wait to see them!

In answer to your track pants questions:

1. I think the fit you describe sounds right, although of course we will be able to judge better on seeing.

2. I love the sounds of the top you propose. They can also work really well with a fluid silky top that is semi-tucked in front.

I don't have a pair of these currently, but I did have the Leith pants briefly (until I decided they were not warm enough for our climate and passed them to Mo.) If the fit is similar, I liked my Leith pants also with a somewhat fitted, ruched, same-colour (black) turtleneck topped by a denim (or similar short) jacket.

Hello my lovelies! I hope everyone has been doing well over the past few...months. *gulp* Yes, I know I disappeared again. Yes, the chhalenging times continue. Yes, my weight struggles persist, which made me feel hideous, which made me neglect my style...but with a new season comes new incentive to get my act together on that front, at least, and I've actually had fun hunting for my style mojo amid wonderfully comfortable and forgiving fall trends! I've stocked up on fluid knits, fluid blouses, a pair of flared jeans, cranberry booties, relaxed black skinnies, a metallic grey faux leather jacket, a new dress colour/silhouette and even a wild card bag. I'll be debuting these looks for approval over the next few days assuming I can find someone to take pictures for me. But before I do this, I have one more general styling question.
I've been intrigued by the idea of silky track pants for awhile now, and when the Bobeau ones went on sale I snapped them up. I just received them, and I'm strongly encouraged...but I could use some verbal descriptions on a couple of things.
1. Are they supposed to be quite voluminous at the top and front of the leg but more fitted at the back? And I assume the bottom part above the elastic is still supposed to be a tad relaxed and not feel painted on? If this is correct, then these pants are still in the game.
2. What tops do you ladies generally pair with your silky track pants? My instinct is to go with something shorter, a bit fitted and dressy. My initial thought is a Foxcroft white shirt covered in black polka dots, but I'm interested to hear the creative combos you've all come up with.

Looking forward to hearing from and connecting with you all again. And huge hugs to those that have been saying hello in random postings throughout the forum. Every one of the greetings made me smile and feel glad to be home.

 Your post
