If you plan to go to Laguna Beach check with the hotel if the shuttle still runs. I think it does. parking in Laguna is dreadful.

definitely get a car to take you into town! lots of walking, restaurants, shops..you can shop til you drop. lol.

the ritz is closer to dana point which is also a cool area to explore with comfy walking shoes.

we have stayed at the ritz, montage and most recently surf and sand. go to the bar at surf and sand - directly on beach and great people watching!

the ocean breezes are great!

The Ritz Carlton is right on the beach, so less dry and cooler. also wind off the ocean is always cooler.

Take a walk on the beach-up toward Laguna Beach to see a few of our costal multi million dollar houses. A friend of mine lives in about the 4th one up-the one with the flag. you can only see them from the beach as the area is gated. These are, I think, some Dan Kootz mentioned in one of his books about the builders of these had either a poor education or a great sense of humor. Anyhow they have some nice features inside and the million dollar views.

Laura G, I remember being in San Diego the last week in Sept and it was 100 degrees (I was pregnant at the time). That was 24 years ago. The weather here is SE PA is in the high 80s since Saturday after a few weeks of temps in the 70s. Luckily we are not paying for our bags so I can pack extra if needed.

binkle, thanks for the chart. Our weather in SE PA can be like that also. today it is in the high 80s. Waiting for the 70s starting tomorrow.

always trying, that temperature variation is unreal! I don't do well in the heat, but am ok in the cold. I think I may stick to capris instead of shorts and layer. Thanks about packing mositurizer, because my skin is on the dry side to begin with.We are staying at the Ritz Carlton which seems to be close to the water. I hope we get ocean view rooms.

Barbara Diane, I will definitely pack a scarf!

mntsofthemoon - Thanks, I can't wait for the trip

lisaflex, I just bought a pair of Grasshoppers at DSW on Monday. They are the perfect walking shoe. I wore my other pair when I was up in Mass and New Hampshire last week. Walking in Boston is rough!

Joy, I think we have one free night; the others are scheduled at the hotel like the "meet and greet" and the awards dinner. Hope DH and I can slip away and do our own thing one evening. DH's company offered a special "you choose package for that Thursday and he decided on a massage and I am doing a facial. The other choices were a shopping trip, trip to Catalina, and ?whale watching . I think after having to deal with the 3 hr time difference and 5 hr flight I wanted a spa day to fully relax before heading home on Friday.

I used to live near Laguna. Take layers and include a wind breaker jacket. This is also an arty area (or used to be) so there may be plays and events at night. The water is cold but walking on the beach and watching fishermen and boogie boarders is fun. Enjoy!

Where are you staying? also the temps are as much as 10 degrees cooler on the coast than inland. By the coast I mean generally what we call the 5 mile zone.--5 miles from the ocean-

If you have free time you will want to walk around Laguna Beach.

Ditto on my other SoCal ladies comments. If you are staying close to the beach/coast good chance of fog in the mornings burning off to sunshine and cooler temps in the evenings. Def a cardigan, light jacket or if you are a denim person = denim jacket is perfect. A scarf is a great idea too. Laguna is a beautiful area and the vibe is relaxed and a tad upscale I would say. "Beach clothes" can mean anything from shorts and tanks to jeans, linen pants, beautiful blouses and long "flowy" maxi dresses. Enjoy your trip it is a beautiful area!

Keeping your eye on the temperature is crucial. And bringing items that work if the weather is one level hotter and one level colder than you expect. And a scarf for a breeze. Advice I now always follow. Also it can be cool in the morning and at night.

As you can see from the post from binkle, temps can vary from the 70's to upper 90's in October. If you are inclined to go walking or something in the early morning it will definately be cool, the difference between day time temperature and night varies a lot. It can be in the 50's n early morning and go up to 90 during the day. I almost never rains before Halloween. It is semi arid here so air is very dry. Pack extra lotion and moisterizer if you plan to spend any time out doors.

SoCal-ian here too. It can get pretty cool at night along the coast, so sweaters as Laura suggested, or a light jacket/windbreaker to layer on top. Maybe a light cotton or silk scarf too.

If it helps, here are historical October temps for Laguna Niguel. Maybe you could also check online as you get closer to departure, for a ten day forecast.
https://www.accuweather.com/en.....10/01/2016

September is usually our hottest month in southern California, and sometimes it continues into October. Right now the highs are about 80. No rain at all. You'll be fine with just sweaters--not pullovers, though, since you'll only wear them at night and in air conditioning.

My DH and I are going to Laguna Niguel, California in about a month and I do not know how to pack for the weather. This is a company sponsored recognition trip for the award winners and spouses. The dress code is casual except for the awards dinner and I have that covered.

We were told to bring comfortable shoes for walking and beach clothes if we so wish (I am not a beach person so I am not participating in that). I am trying not to pack too much and hope that I just need sweaters in case it gets cold, but I haven't a clue what the weather will be like.

Anyone ever visited Laguna Niguel in the fall and can help me out?
