Warm and humid. There are lots of lovely shops. Plan to shop while there. Very casual unless at an expensive resort. Do not plan black outfits. You will stand out as a tourist and be uncomfortable. Think bright colors.

My packing for Hawaii depends upon where we are staying. Big resorts seem to divide into either casual family-style places or dressier business and tour groups. I like smart-casual clothing a little more covered-up from the sun than most tourists. For sightseeing I wear linen shirts and capris, good walking sandals and sling on a lightweight crossbody bag. Hat and sunblock, of course.

The humidity means that chafing and blisters are often a problem so take a first-aid kit and baby powder. I like a lightweight rain jacket since it seems to rain a bit every day in summer. It can be windy as well, so a hair clip to keep it out of your face is worth it. Pack lightweight 'beachy' jewelry, nothing expensive. If you're going to walk in the sand, Crocs rinse off fast and seem comfortable. Hawaii is lovely, hope you enjoy it.

Good walking shoes are essential. Hats and layers too.

Try Boden for dresses.

Need some advise from you fabbers...

We booked a trip in Mid June to Oahu.. my first time there and i feel unprepared ..for me and the family (including teen boys and tween girl). I’m starting to shop/window shop.

We’ll like do more sightseeing then water/beach. What to wear? Sun hat? Are shorts for me ok or too touristy? We may need to walk a bit would sneakers look too standout? I’m not a sundress type of person as. Like to have my shoulders covered and not showing bra straps. I’m invisioing some knee length cotton/rayon/linen dress that is NOT see through and not strapless/spaghetti straps, that appears to be a very tall order. I’m totally appalled by the “summer dress” selection that’s mainly polyester! I just got a couple of 32 degree cool shorts from Costco and looking like they may be workhorses... even though I’d prefer to wear dresses in Hawaii. Even for my tween girl, summer dress are skimpy or not cotton. She is started puberty and is very self conscious about covering up the “booby traps”. I haven’t found a lightweight T-shirt dress that’s not too thick or too see thru. For the boys (big and small) I suppose just T-shirt’s and shorts.

Ok enough rambling. Really need advise on what type of clothing and footwear are needed for non beach days. Appreciate any advise for the trip. TIA!
