Brisbane is hot and humid that time of year. The days are often in the 30's, although usually the nights are a bit cooler. It is a fairly casual city. I think shorts and light tops are perfectly acceptable. Perhaps a light jacket in case it is cool in the evening or early morning. When I first moved here I got caught out by dressing for the morning temperature and sweltering by lunchtime. However, most big buildings will have AC (which I always find MUCH too cool!). Don't forget your swimsuit. The beaches will be great.

I haven't taken a trip that long in many years. I've gotten good at the smaller trips but the all weather, all event trips require a lot of clothes. Thank God Qantas allow 2 x 70 pound suitcases. Trouble is I need to do a lot of internal travel with them so I need to keep it manageable. Only me to schlep them. Hubby has to stay & work & will only meet me for 2 weeks over Christmas.

I remember when I first did the Aussie round world trip in 92. I had a backpack with a pair of low top doc martens, 2 pairs of levi 501s, a leather motorcycle jacket, rayban wayfarers, 4 baggy t-shirts, waterproof top I made that wasn't waterproof at the seams lol, a polar fleece sweater I made. I bought some high top reeboks & a water proof Walkman when I arrived. I always felt like I never had enough clothes when I stayed in one place long enough to see the same people over & over but I didn't have enough room to carry more. I did buy some black hotpants & bodycon top when I got to London & needed an outfit for clubbing haha & a black wool benneton pencil skirt, white shirt & loafers to wear to work temping at Selfridges.

Deborah I will be in Ballarat Dec 8 & again Christmas or Boxing Day at least. I have an aunt there. I arrive in Melbourne dec 6 & my mother will be on holiday in guess where? Bendigo, so I have to see if one of my old Melbourne friends can pick me up & put me up for a couple of nights & then I need to find my way to Ballarat for my Aunt's 60th on the 8th. I will pm you my email address & if you want you can pm me your number. I would love to meet up. As it gets closer & I know what I'm packing I will see if I have room to bring something if you want anything from here. I know it's hard to shop for clothes that you can't try on but maybe a shoe that you know fits cos its a classic or a scarf or something. Make-up & perfume are cheaper here too.

Temperatures can be anywhere from 70F to 100F so lots of layers Unless you are travelling for business I wouldn't bring too much in the way of dressier clothing. Schools have long breaks over Christmas & New Year here so it's our main holiday time. A light raincoat is always useful too.
