If you are always going to wear it with the belt and let it dangle, you could make a loose single stitch between the belt and the back of the jacket (loose enough that it can move a tiny bit, but not enough that it is visible) so that the belt doesn't get lost.

I usually wear mine with the ends tucked into my pockets when it is open, but sometimes let the ends dangle.

I just let mine dangle, although I have been known to actually sew or pin it down to the coat closer to the middle so that it dangles in a more flattering position (otherwise, it will dangle from whereever the last belt loop is, which sometimes looks too wide for my liking, if that makes any sense.)

ETA: Just looked at the coat in your link and it looks like the belt loop is all the way to the side, so I think it might be worth it to pin the belt a little closer to the middle and see if you like it better that way.

I have a short Ellen Tracy trench similar to this, but in a lighter green: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/el.....sultback=0

This seems like a silly question, but I'm wondering how to wear the belt. When buttoned I just tie it, but I almost always wear the coat open. I've tried tying it in the back, but that doesn't really work - it is either too short or pulls the coat back in an unflattering way. I'm not sure if I should let it hang, tuck the ends in my pockets, take the belt off completely? Opinions?
