Rute posted pretty much what I was going to say. Remember that guidelines are just that, and play around with different shapes and materials to see what is most flattering. Take lots of pictures and post here so we can all weigh in.

On a side note, I have fallen really behind in reading posts and hadn't seen your WIW ones. The one you re-posted here - wow! You look fantastic. The haircut (I know it's recent) is so becoming on you. You are much farther ahead than I am in getting my style together, so kudos on all the work and thought you are putting into it. You are doing SUPER.

Thanks for the feedback I think I can manage something. Good thing that I like skirts and dresses.

You looked really good in that purple dress with the stirrup leggings. It was roomier on the hips.

I vote pencils that do not taper in from the hip down, stitched down pleated A-lines and fit and flare dresses.

I agree-a-line skirts and try tunic tops w/ a belt and empire waist dresses and shirts. Wearing a blazer that tapers towards the waist will create the hourglass shape and pants and jeans with straight legs. I think you would look great in trouser jeans.

My advice is, at first, try everything, guidelines are guidelines but everybody is different!

Try A skirts, pencil skirts, post photos and hear what we have to say (I'm saying that because we sometimes are too hard with us and others see us in a different way!

Have fun! Go to a store, try different things and take photos in the dressing room!

Ummm... I thought that tulip skirts were a no-no for pears? I'm pretty much in the deep end of pearishness. On the other hand, my body is an example of the 8 shape on Imogen's blog and the skirt guidelines are much different from YLF ones... ah, I feel so confused.

Hmmm... you know, this might sound crazy, but with your amazing waist, have you looked at tulip skirts? I'm trying to find a nice one to show you. I'm wondering if the intentional form might help with the narrow waist.

You could totally do a-line skirts that have some structure and are perhaps more gently a-line. As the skirt is meant to have some volume, so no-one is to know whether or not you you are more also have volume underneath...

Until recently I was also dubious about the skinny jean and tunic look, but done right I think that it looks great. You could also try a skinny or straight legged black pant.

Also - how about a sheath dress with a waterfall cardigan over the top?

Rosie - yes, but I think it doesn't really work for me. I believe that A-line skirts make me look more bottom-heavy.

crazyone - you won't see me in skinny jeans. Just don't like them. However, my Tuesday WIW was something similar to your idea: http://s867.photobucket.com/al.....0_9738.jpg

wrap dresses and skinny jeans+tunic tops that hit you mid thigh. you can belt the tunics for more definition.

You probably know what I'm talking about...
http://s867.photobucket.com/al.....0_9858.jpg

It's a giant square. My body is exactly the same width from hipbones to thighs and I find it really annoying. However, I don't have a flat and square bottom - it's round and prominent.

I have no idea what to do. Is there any way to soften those vertical lines and not to add any volume to my hips? I look even more pear-shaped in voluminous skirts and dresses.
