Ah ha, the lesson to learn here, folks, is to believe the instructions on the packet when they tell you how much dye you need!

I decided to first try the basic machine dye, using the big packet this time, and it came out fine.

Next task is to add some pockets!
I think the stamping sounds like a fun idea. I'm not sure about your style, but what about adding some studs (more like the round, flat ones than the 3 inch spikes) to the shoulders, collar or cuffs?

Oooh, really? I would never have thought of that, caro!

I also hadn't thought of stamping it with a metallic color. Hmm, I could come up with all sorts of interesting things!

Although I hadn't seen that Ella Moss jacket... that's also rather tempting now!

Thanks!
If you do decide to dye it black use black & yellow dye in a 2:1 ratio (2 parts black). For some reason this produces a really deep black:)

If this jacket isn't very thick in material, you could also try chopping off the sleeves to make it a half sleeved length, which you could layer over a fitted long sleeved tee or wear as a casual topper! I think this could be a nice alternative to the vest! And if you don't want to alter anything, bleaching it in could give it new life, or if you get a printing block from an arts & crafts store, you could print it yourself in a subtle self shade or in a metallic print!

http://www.colouricious.com/sh.....ing-blocks

I know from experience that dark denim takes metallic shades very well, and it looks gorgeous in self shades on faded backgrounds too, as parts of the print end up true and dark and parts of it faded and subtle!

I'd be tempted to try tie dyeing with bleach to get a look like the Ella moss moto!

I have never tried to dye anything in my life (which is probably a good thing since I cut myself whenever I try to do anything remotely creative), but I think you could give it another go if you still like the jacket (except for the colour). If you're tired of the jacket, I'd just let it go and find something else more fab!

So I have this old favorite formerly black jean jacket that is looking very grey. I have tried to dye it black again once before but it didn't really help much. For a while I was ok with the grey color but I'm getting a bit tired of it.

What would you do to try and spruce it up a bit? I could try black dye again (to be fair, last time I only used one packet -- maybe with two it would work better), see what happens if I bleach it, or perhaps dye it a different color over the faded black.

I have a blue one as well, so if I went for a different color I'd probably pick something other than indigo/navy.
