Try trouser socks, but fold the shaft down so it's below the top of the boot. You won't see the sock, but it will be a perfect buffer so your skin won't touch the inside of the boot. :-)

If the uppers are leather, they may very well soften up with time. I had a pair of high-shaft booties that cut into my lower leg, to the point where it was really painful. But after a few wears, the leather softened, and now they are perfect.

Maybe they just need breaking in. I've had shoes that had problem spots that went away once I'd worn them for awhile.

Try sticking moleskin on the inside of the boots where they rub. Works really well.

I just experienced the same problem on the left ankle with one of my newer boots. I had rolled my socks down so you couldn't see them so I just adjusted them up a little to line up at the top of the boot. It solved my problem for the moment. I am planning to add a cushion to that part of the boot. I have these strap cushions from Foot Petals that I hope solve my problem. I've used these successfully for different shoe rubbing issues before, I even cut smaller pieces when needed.

Would nude-for-you knee high nylons work? Or are you wearing skirts rather than the cropped pants I am thinking of?

One of the best nuggets of wisdom I've learned on this forum is "Body Glide." It's a rub-on stick very much like deodorant that you can find in sporting good stores, I found mine at Sports Authority. It's made for runners who experience chafing - for example thighs chafing. But it works on any body part that's rubbing. Try it and good luck.

I just bought some adorable fringed ankle booties at Gap Outlet. They are very comfy, except... there are a couple of places where the top of the boots rubbed my lower legs just above the ankle. Ouch. Would moleskin work? Or is there some other solution besides wearing with higher socks? (I like the look with low socks that don't show.) What about those Body Glide type products? Help!
