In those examples from Ebay, I would say that they are using 'edge to edge' to mean a cardigan that doesn't fasten!

Maybe it's just ebay sellers being inconsistent with terminology, then, since not all of these seem to be of the non-overlapping variety:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?.....Categories

But they are definitely not referring to the measurements, as far as I can tell.

I was just wondering what I was missing!

I take edge to edge to mean that the cardigan has no fastening, and does not overlap in anyway at the front. Let me see if I can find some examples -

Here is an edge to edge cardigan http://www.mandco.com/cardigan.....raspberry/

and here is a 'normal' long cardigan, with button fastening - http://www.asos.com/Whistles/W.....8;clr=Grey

Where I've seen it, they are referring to measurements. That way, if you are considering ordering, you can measure a similar garment you already own to estimate fit. Because one size 8 is another size 6 or 10.

I am guessing it means it was knitted edge to edge and does not have side seams.

ETA: I was wrong; this one has seams.

Can you link to an example? This sounds like a top to bottom measurement.

I don't know, maybe no ribbing, just knitted edge to edge? Or are they referring to a measurement (24" edge to edge)?

I keep seeing items, especially cardigans, described as "edge to edge", but I can't seem to find a description of what this means. Most of the things I have seen described in this way are on ebay, so I can't see the items in person to figure out what the common features are. They seem to be all kinds of different styles and fabrics, so I'm at a loss.

Can someone point me to a good explanation?
