I have a pair of Lola skinnies too, and really like them. They were a hand-me-down from my sister. I never would have considered the brand on my own.

I love Lucky jeans although the styles and washes can be limiting, they are the best fitting jeans that I have ever found. The "curvy" fit models don't run as narrow in the thigh and Lucky lists their jeans by fit on the website. I prefer a midrise jean and I don't like the fit of stretch denim on me. The Classic rider is a great boot cut and I usually have to size down. My favorites are the Lola skinnies. I size up one size for a skimming, rather than skinny fit, (the over 50 thing) and I size up two sizes and the lolas work great as slouchy skinnies. There is nothing more comfortable than a pair of easy riders but they run big and do not narrow at the hem. I would definitely size down in these jeans. All of these styles are roomy in the thigh area. I have a real minimalist style and add a black tank, blazer, belt and boots and no boho in sight!

Lngunn, I suspect you are right about the light - fall is weird here because its still pretty warm during the day but the light is different, more angled which changes the feel of it for me. I want to dress in layers but it's still 70+ degrees so it's not practical, so I suppose changing color palette is the next best thing. Caro, this capsule thing has been so illuminating for what I really want to wear day after day - turns out I've become more of a casual person than a smart casual person without noticing.

Annaj, one thing I was a little hesitant about with Lucky jeans is that they read a little young/casual, just because the way they are fitted through the thigh, at least on me. But I don't have an office job, so it's actually totally appropriate on me - maybe I'm finally admitting to myself that I don't have to dress business casual anymore.

The thing that always turned me off boho was the amount of decoration - paisley and embroidery and ruffles, say. At least what Lucky's showing in stores right now is more restrained, with an influence of rock and roll - weathered tshirts, leather jackets - which is less full on femme and more appealing to me.

Sounds great! I've always found Lucky jeans to be a great fit (for me) and I enjoy wearing a few of their tops - they are a bit different to my usual style, but I think they are fun!

The jeans sound fab. Maybe you are just branching out or actually changing direction Or maybe the genius of making a capsule wardrobe is to see where it gels with your reality & where it doesn't.

Maybe it's the light? I find myself reaching for more low contrast combos in fall, too, then gradually upping it during winter towards spring. Yay for new jeans! Sounds great!

Congrats on the jeans! That's pretty cool. I really like Lucky--I think you nailed the descriptor. It reads casual, boho and California to me but it a more grown up way than say Hollister or American Eagle. I rarely buy anything there but I do like the aesthetic. Could be the change in seasons (warmer colors, cozy clothes) or perhaps your changing shape. Either way, it's fun to change things up! Have fun with it

When I was visiting Las Vegas recently I stopped in at a Lucky jeans store and ended up buying a pair of jeans (psyched because until recently the biggest size they carried in store was too small). I found myself really attracted to the aesthetic, which surprised me becaue it's got a touch of boho and that's absolutely never been my thing. I would describe it as Americana casual with touches of the 70s and maybe a bit of California. There's something about this vibe that is really attracting me these days. The smart casual capsule I designed for fall isn't getting a lot of wear because its all black and white and brights and something about that is not attracting me at all. I want indigo and darker colors and cream and things that are curvy and soft edged, not hard edged and architectural.

In fact, I picked up a black and white striped sweater on clearance at BR today and I think it's going back; too geometric and too many clean lines. I looked at AT and everything was just so 80s power suit, not exactly but in the feel of it somehow, the colors and the blocking and even the black leather trim.

Have I lost it? Maybe it's because it's fall and I always move away from black in fall and winte.r, dunno why.
