My first choice would be an oxford or a ballet flat or dressing it up with a pair of pumps. Or maybe alligator print... I'm hesitating over oxfords too---needs a specific *genre* of oxfords again. Tougher, less classic, but maybe not too RATE I think. Gladiators or cages of any sort, or what Suz once called ur-sandals would be perfect (you know, thicker 'serviceable'-looking straps, a pared-back aesthetic in neutral leather, minimal but not barely-there by any means...) I don't think you *have* to have heels as long as bit of bookending or 'nearly nude' or colour continuity (navy?) is going on. Because I find flat-colour skinnies, even cropped ones, bright ones or faded ones, less choppy than a wider leg or print, y'know? Not so sure about flats.  I bet they'd look 'fine' but not as edgy as the right bootie or sandal. I think cropped pants look best with heels unless a person has very long legs. That's why I think the booties work in the product photo.
