I'd wear the Roberto Fresca flats in it (from Sally's reply). The Okala's are not a "do a lot of walking" shoe for me, I'd need something flat.

I like the bootie idea or the strappy flats. The sneakers could be cute but I am still having a hard time accepting them with dressier dresses (I admit I'm a slow-adopter).

LP - I agree the petty boots are the wrong color. I have tried them in black in past, but don't like them as well and didn't duplicate. I will have to try on some fun shoes like the pic (albeit at a lower price), but a more delicate bootie sounds good.

Annagybe - I am going to try with the metallic sneakers I have, and gauge from there. Those shoes make quite a statement, I must say.

Having just lived in LV for 3 years, I can say Strip style pretty much runs the gamut and it would be awfully hard to look out of place, unless you're attending a specific event, or one of a handful of fine-dining restaurants, with a dress code. Casualization has definitely hit hard -- I always saw lots of sneakers, fashion and otherwise, mixed in with the Louboutins, even in the evening.

I wonder if your Petty boots are just the wrong color? I think I'd prefer a black bootie with that dress, as you've noted. I like the idea of an edgy lace-up flat of some sort too. Those Miu Mius, which have been discussed here previously, would be great, but aren't there some knock-offs out there too? I think the ankle-wrap is fun because it echoes the lines of the dress.

Sorry to be MIA.

LisaP, yes, it's pretty body con (for me). I have worn it with heels and didn't need to walk too far. I am considering wearing it to Vegas, and I used to wear crazy heels there over the years. Now, I simply cannot imagine torturing myself in that way, because I can walk a ton there, so I was trying to figure out what to wear instead. I would like to avoid walking barefoot down the strip (not that I've ever done that before )

JenniNZ - I once brought foldable flip flops and changed, but I found them pretty uncomfortable. I am hoping to skip the change of shoes if possible, but won't completely rule it out.

Sally/UmmLila - I haven't tried a strappy flat. I always think they look like they would cut into my foot, but that's a way to go. I agree a pointy toe looks dressier. I personally really like the black ankle booties. I have really been liking ankle boots the last couple years. I generally find them very comfy.

Thanks BD.

Angie - I never considered slip on sneakers. I will have to see what I find in that realm.

Beautiful dress. Sometimes in that situation I wear slightly dressy sneakers and carry my "walking shoes" bag, a crisp white cloth bag with a design of high heels on it and the words "walking shoes". Not at home so can't take pic. I would put my higher heels or less comfy shoes in that to put on at the dinner, concert, dance or whatever I was walking to eg in Vegas some distance from the hotel!

I'm a little confused. This looks like a very dressy/sexy dress because of how body-con and fitted it is. What's up with needing to walk long distances in it?

For dressy I like UmmLila's idea, or pointy toe flats somehow to me look more elegant and dressy than round toes. Metallic bronze/pewter could be fun!

I would wear this with ankle boots and semi opaques too, and somehow a slightly higher heel in an ankle boot is more manageable because of the support. They would need to be refined ones.

I don't mean exactly the shoes below but here are some ideas for dressier boots and flats.

I have this dress (with burgundy stripes and black). I can no longer wear uncomfortable or high heels, and I need to be able to do a lot of walking in them (think Vegas walking). I would like to keep the vibe dressy, which feels harder to me with lower shoes.

I've worn with black riding boots, but that feels more casual. I have a pair of Born metallic sandals I usually swing out with dresses when I need a lot of walking, but that feels seasonally confused as this dress feels more wintry to me. I also considered my Sam Edelman Petty in Putty, but I'm not sure on that either.

In a 1 1/2 inch or so and lower, do you guys have any recommendations for the right shoe?
