You already have an excellent sense of style, Natalie. And each outfit that you post shows more verve, personality and confidence. THAT is style :)

It's fun to add the next layer of fabness and change things up, though. That's what keeps us going in this game

Jayne--yes, casual wear has its own challenges and is an area I'm working on as well. I agree, I've learned so much from everyone else by doing K/R and WIW postings that I never would have learned on my own! I would love to see your version of Angie's MOTG formulas.

Manidipa--I think you should definitely try some boots or booties!

Lisa--I agree, I have been mainly wearing knee high boots and haven't gotten into ankle booties much but they look great on everyone else so maybe I'll try them sometime.

Merwoman--I think you look great in the boyfriend jeans from your other thread!

Amy, I ordered the peacock tunic from Nordstrom (here's my K/R thread:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....cock-tunic):
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/al.....ltback=114

Angie, that black suit was so stunning on you that I'm not surprised you are staying with the suit theme!

Christianne, I agree, nice dressy warm weather tops can be really hard to find. And I totally hear you on the hunt for comfy but stylish shoes. That's on my wishlist too.

Jonesy and Mo, yay Team Volume! I'm a newbie on this team. Mo--you of all people can pull of a romper at our age so I can't wait to see it on you! :)

Jem, thanks! Yes, fall/winter seems to be easier to look stylish than summer because you can add layers.

Nancy, no need to fear the belt! I didn't even own a single belt before YLF and now I feel like they're indispensable! Try an obi belt!

Sheila, good luck with the weight but in the meantime treat yourself anyways--you deserve it! Maybe some accessories?

Shannon, as a fellow apple I'll be interested to see how your boyfriend Kut jeans work out. Somehow the idea of low rise, baggy jeans doesn't seem like it would work on an apple like me but I think you could pull it off. You seem to be able to do menswear-style and feminine looks equally well unlike me.

Rae, true the tunic does have some waist definition--but you have to agree it is a lot flowier than my usual fitted style. And I have been trying on some other dolman sleeve peasant tops too. I hope you can find some good flats for yourself. And I can't wait to see your DIY's, they're always so creative. I could totally see you making a career out of personal shopping and selling your creative DIY's on Etsy. Maybe you should talk to Nicole!

Joy--would love to see colored or patterned jeans on you!

Nicole, I love that you can do all these widely different looks (goth, rocker, boho etc) and that they still all have your personal stamp and it's totally believable on you whereas it might look costumey on some of us! You have the confidence and ability to wear anything!

I thought i was going to go more boho but....now i'm not sure. I think i'll do looks this fall that flirt with boho on occasion (fringe boots/bag, shag fur coat, fur vest etc) while still keeping my edge and more streamlined (?) look. I also want my rocker side to go a little bit more grown up goth romantic, inspired by this board: http://pinterest.com/zellaind/grown-up-goth/

Though it could probably be said that i already do this *points down*? Picture #2 is a perfect example of what i'm loving right now and i'm saving my pennies to buy that tunic. <3

Love the tunic! Although I could argue that it does define your waist because of the seam and knot detail. ;)

I'm giving flat footwear another go-round. With the knowledge gleaned about my feet from wearing heels (narrow footbed, narrow ankle, narrow calf, high arches) I'm hoping I can "beat the odds" so to speak and actually find flats that don't hurt after 2 hours.

I also want to challenge myself to more DIYs!

Mine is the BF jeans trend - I just need to find the right pair. I've ordered a pair of the Kut from the Kloth ones that Inge is wearing in her post. If they don't work, I'm going to try the Gap sexy boyfriend ones.

Sadly, for me the next challenge is losing some of those nasty pounds that I gained whilst living it up in NYC...sigh...so I can easily fit into everything in my closet. Then as my reward I'll think of a new style challenge.

I hope to have some success finding some boots, this year, so I guess that's my challenge. I wanted to mention that I LOVE your peacock blouse on you!! Wow, it's amazing!

I am also doing the volume on top this year. After years of snug fitting knits, it's a big departure. Wearing a suit in non business situations will be on the horizon this year, too. But mostly I am dying to try to make the romper work for this over 40

I am working on wearing denim 75% of time but for work. It's odd but I think it might work better for me in cooler weather when I can easily wear a blazer and make the jeans more dressed up. I think it needs a dressier top to make me feel comfortable and yet it's warm so my tops feel too casual. Making notes to find dressier warmer weather tops for next year.

Also still on the hunt for comfier shoes that are not athletic or too ugly. I may lose this battle.

And like Lisa, I am also wanting some shorter boots - think I am looking for a greyish colour, as I have seen many YLFers sporting this look and I find it quite appealing.

I am considering tackling the big subject of casual wear..like you are doing! I have worked very hard on the work outfits but still just throw on 'whatever' for weekends and after work. Whatever is comfy and at hand. I need to invest some thought into figuring out outfits from my summer casual wardrobe and actually wearing it.

I remember from my work postings that the first outfits did not get love, which is actually what you need to understand what works and what doesn't. But it will be a downer to go that round again. Perhaps an idea is to try Angies MOtG formulas for summer and see which you all think suits me best+. Summer is just a fancy word for coldish long spring in Norway though. Don't be fooled to think heat is in the equation.

In light of Amy's recent post looking for new style inspirations (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....nspiration), I thought I'd turn it around to the group...what new style challenge would you like to tackle next? Something you've always loved but never got a chance to try? A new silhouette? Revisiting a different time period? Style moving in a new direction? Secret persona?

For me, I'm having fun exploring the flowy tunic/waist surrender camp. Having been firmly in the sheath dress/pencil skirt waist-defining bombshell team before, it's a whole new world for me. And I have to admit, it's sooo comfy! As long as it doesn't make me look too wide!

Would love to see what's next on your style horizon!
