A pointed question! I am on the hunt too for someone. I used to be the biggest Marc Jacobs fan, but I'm no longer attracted or inspired. First, I feel like I've aged out of his style. There's a certain school girl (ok, well maybe school girl playing hooky) aspect to his style, and I feel done with girlishness. Also, they took his department out of all the stores. Only the downtown stores still have a Marc Jacobs department.</p> <p>Thom Browne caught my eye one season, but I haven't continued to be impressed. </p> <p>I often like the Stella McCartney things I see in pictures, and I also (unbelievably to me) find The Row very attractive. But I'm just not motivated enough. The prices are very high and I'd have to do mail order. Mail order is sooo painful for me. I'd like to have some hope based in reality before I set myself to that trauma. Because, for example, Marni has come in as Marc has been kicked out. I love looking at Marni stuff online, but in person everything fell very flat for me.</p> <p>And anyways, none of those have the *it* quality for me. I do also think the pricing has gotten out of whack. Quite honestly, I want my comfy chair and cup of coffee if I'm going to be paying over $1000 for any one item. Coupled with her recent price increases and some lackluster collections I kinda fell out of love with her.&nbsp;<br />I haven't quite found a fashion house to replace my former lusts. I still like a lot of ACNE, but it's hard to find in Seattle. Kenzo is great for the stand out pieces but I don't necessarily find it very wearable for day to day.&nbsp;Rag &amp; Bone seems to lost a bit of their edge and has gone more commercial.<br />I really like Christopher Kane and Mary Katranzou, but they're very expensive.<br />I think there is a real empty place in the market for interesting fashion forward mid priced items. Some a bit more than Zara but not quite full blown designer. </p>
