Violettt, I get the Missha Sun Milk on Amazon. Sometimes (about once a year) I place an order on RoseRoseShop. They are based in Korea and their prices are amazing (and choices too); you pay for shipping by weight on a step scale, and they have a calculator that helps you figure out the most value-effective amount. So I've also gotten the Missha Sun Milk from them.
PS. I have a similar experience as you do with sunblock. I grew up in Brazil, where everybody tans. I moved to the US at 25, to a cold snowy place, and (not by choice) didn't have that much access to sun. At that age I also began using a daily SPF lotion. Now when I visit my friends in Brazil I see the difference...

I see ads often for a medication called Humira (adalimumab) for psoriasis. Have you ever tried that, Bernard? I’ll admit the possible bad effects sound very serious, so I wouldn’t necessarily want to take it. But it’s a thought.

Vildy: HAAAA great to read your posts! You know, I love Ponds Cold Cream, the cucumber one, in the jar. It is a superb makeup remover with a nice hot wash cloth! Thx for the mention of that! I bet your skin is naturally gorgeous! The hot sun really wrecks havoc on my skin! All my Swedish relatives in Sweden have this fair translucent skin, and mine has some freckles and some dark spots, but pretty much since I was 28, and became an Esthetician, I've taken really good care of my skin, decided I didn't ever want to be tan any longer, like in my younger years, always wore sunblock, and I think I do look much younger than my 60 GASP years. lol

I once went to the retin-a guy when I was 34. My roommate at Penn had dark olive skin and tended toward keloid scars and had breakouts. She volunteered for retin-A trials. Years later, she remembered my skin being translucent. I'm quite fair and a redhead.

When I showed up for my appointment with Kligman at the anti-aging clinic, the office staff said he'd throw me out. He didn't like what I was currently using, which was an oatmeal bar, because he thought that clogged pores and recommended Dove. I had used Dove for awhile but everything seemed to make me break out a bit, except for the oatmeal bar. Anyway, after hearing that I grew up in Southern California with all that sun, he pronounced my skin "pretty damn amazing."

Growing up, I used to do two things. I swiped the original ten-o-six on my skin. It isn't the same anymore but I've heard it had a lot of AHA and therefore gave people wrinkle-free skin when they kept it up for years afterward, which I had. Also, in those days we wore quite heavy foundation every day. I used Max Factor ultralucent, sadly discontinued. I think I had my last jar of it when I was pregnant at 38. Pregnancy played havoc with my skin and hair and in order not to appear green and frighten my doctor, I wore the foundation. He remarked on the "glow of pregnancy". I thought, You, too, can have that for seven bucks a jar.

Anyway, I think the heavy makeup served as a blocking sunscreen.

I asked the skin doctor about drinking eight glasses of water. He scoffed and quipped he'd rather have bourbon. Me, too, at the time.

Really unexciting skincare.

After a shower, I use Jergen's Crema deep conditioning shea butter (like a body butter). It really seems to leave my extra dry skin smooth and soft but sinks in and not at all greasy. Have tried on my face as well but is too heavy for that.

For my face, I use Sali Hughes' method of exfoliating/cleansing with a washcloth, plus some advice from a blog on using regular Ponds cold cream to wake up glowing. I spread it on my face and then get a washcloth really hot and squeeze it out and spread it out over my face, leaning back a bit, for about a minute. Then I start getting the cold cream off by gently rubbing all over in small circles. Generally don't bother rinsing after that. Or moisturizing or anything.

Alternatively, I may use Neutragena traditional glycerine bar and do rinse that off. Then I use a discontinued product of creamy petroleum jelly with vitamin E. I figure the vitamin E is just along for the ride and don't pay any attention to it. This also results in a non-greasy glowing skin, more so than even the first method. One thing I like is the idea of petroleum jelly because I had read that it's the only thing that bonds with skin and helps make it stronger.
Husband, who is 64 and works outdoors at night, rubs a little pure petroleum jelly (vaseline) on his face and he's (was) a redhead and has amazing skin.

I have very sensitive, allergic skin and I use only two brands of products, one is Mukti, an all natural brand of skin care, I use Mukti cleanser, vit-c, day serum, moisturiser and marigold creme.

I also use some Skinn products which made an amazing difference - neck armour mask, I use this every night as a moisturiser all over my neck, face & decollatage- the effects on wrinkles in my neck were immediate and amazing! I also use the Skinn eye serum and a lipcreme for the lines above my lips which have now gone -it has made quite a difference! I think the lines around the mouth can be quite ageing.

My skin care regime takes about 5 minutes morning and night, I wear mukti tinted moisturiser, mascara and lipstick so make up doesn't take long. My skin looks great. Most people think I'm in my early 40's - I'm in my mid 50's. I also drink lots of water which helps and don't drink alcohol.

Going on holidays I take all the products with me as I use them every day.

I wear eye makeup and mostly that sums up my skincare regimen. Seriously, I don't even wash it off half the time.

I know, that's horrible for my skin. I really like the smudged effect that yesterday's eye makeup has. Once I'm ready to be makeup free (usually 2 days is my limit for leaving my eye makeup on), I'll use a gentle eye makeup remover cream to get rid of it, and a toner to clear the smudges from everywhere I leave them with the cream remover lol

In winter I will moisturize face and body, and with my psoriasis I sometimes have to use steroid creams. Inow summer, sin screen sunscreen sunscreen because I'm pale and burn easily and don't want skin cancer.

That's really it for me. I try and keep it simple because if it's too complicated I don't like doing it

3Style: I don't use foundation, but I do use Garnier's BB Cream for combination skin SPF 30 I think, applied with a beauty blender, after I apply my 50SPF sunscreen. But that Almay clear complexion foundation with 0.5 salicylic sounds great! Salicylic is what unclogs pores. The sunscreen I love for my face is called Cathy Doll. It's Korean, and actually a whitening sunscreen. I get it on Amazon. Since I live in California, am a fair skinned blonde, I tend to get freckles and some age spots which I hate, so I do have some whitening products which I incorporate into my regimen. I use Hada Labo whitening lotion, just a splash in my hand, (the one in the blue bottle) after my Chanel toner. You will find Hada Labo in white bottles (hydrating), blue bottles (whitening) and red bottles (retinol and collagen). An interesting note.
KERLYN: I've heard really good things about Paula's choice products, but have never tried them.
KM: I also have been a fan of much Asian skincare and tried many brands. I still use my Korean sunscreen and of course sheet masks. And the Hada Labo. Where do you buy the Missha sunblock you use? Amazon? I've tried many Asian sun milks and have only found one I like, the Cathy Doll.
Retinols:? If you're over 40, it's a good idea to incorporate into your regimen, but if you have sensitive skin like me, or rosecea, go with something mild, and only 2X a week. I like Salma Hayak's Retinol capsules. Best thing to mix in with night cream

Best eye makeup remover I love is Vichy. Has the best smell ever!

Lots of interesting products to look into!

Violettt, I prefer to use natural skincare when possible, but I have tried out many a natural product that caused rashes, broke me out, burned my skin, etc. In fact, I recently tried some products from EvanHealy, and within a week, my skin looked like leather and as if I had been in a sandstorm in the desert! I contacted the company and they sent me some other products to try, and it took me over a month before my skin was back to normal. (The new products turned out to be really fab, so I'm sticking with them.) A lot of the essential oils used in natural skincare can be very irritating to sensitive skin.

Danusia, I wish I could try more of the SkinCeuticals line. I use their sunscreen, and it is the only physical sunscreen I have found that doesn't make me look ill. It has almost a greenish tint to it, which I think helps even out my skin tone. It is very expensive, but I need only a tiny bit. The big bottle I have will probably last me over a year.

Like Laura, I'm a fan of Asian skincare. I'm actually a total convert! I began doing the multistep Korean routine about 1,5 year ago and never looked back. I swear that my thin crow's feet that had begun to appear on the outside of my eyes have diminished and are almost imperceptible.

My routine has 8 to 10 steps, but in the interest of concision, my favorite products (all available on Amazon):

1) Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream. This is MAGIC. It erased my nascent crow's feet.
2) Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol Toner. Keeps clogged pores at bay, and the BHA helps renew skin cells.
3) Missha All-Around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk. The lightest, easiest-to-apply sunscreen ever, great for layering, doesn't clog pores, great protection, no gray/whitish cast.

The multistep routine is fun to do, like a minispa at home; the products are whimsical; and most of them are quite affordable.

Hi! I've had somewhat oily, breakout prone skin throughout my 20s and 30s. Now in my mid-40s, I've finally started to spend a bit more on skincare, and I really am seeing great results.

I use Clean and Clear Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser and Neutrogena Daily SPF15 Moisturizer an (AHA).

In the evenings I cleanse again with the Clean and Clear, and then I rotate between a few products: Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid, Paula's Choice 4% BHA, Paula's Choice 1% Retinol. I also like Paula's Pore Reducing Toner and use it both morning and night most days. I've also added in the niacinamide booster and the brightening essence (also Paula's Choice) and add a drop to one of my evening products. My skin truly has never looked better. It's normalized my skin to the point that I don't even wear foundation or powder anymore! I do apply a drop or two of Paula's Choice Shine Stopper to my t-zone, and that's really all I need. No, I don't work for Paula's Choice. I just have had really great results with her products!

Violett, it seems like you and I have very similar skin type and preferences. Here's what works for me:

Sunscreen : Neutrogena SPF 100+ Ultra Sheer dry touch. Anything less strong doesn't work well enough to reduce redness. However, I've read that some people with rosacea do better with physical rather than chemical sunscreens. For me I avoid the physical ones (the oxides) like the plague, because they make me break out.

Prescription rosacea : Metronidazole gel USP 0.75%. Zero side effects, good results.

Oil control and exfoliation: low concentration salicylic acid. I like the products from Philosophy. The trick is to use them sparingly and intermittently. Especially the cleanser is too strong to use twice a day in the winter. I used to use Paula's Choice salicylic products, but I now prefer these ones.

Gentle cleanser: Jason, Gentle Basics facial cleanser. Fragrance Free.

Night Moisturizer: Acure night cream.

Micellar cleansing water: I second the recommendation for the Simple brand.

Eye Makeup remover: started with Neutrogena and moved to the Target brand generic for price. Now that I am getting older, I'm finding it too drying. I'm soon going to be trying out the Philosophy makeup remover because it has added moisturizing ingredients versus the cheaper option.

Eye /Lip cream plus primer in one: Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip-Fix Cream. I am so happy to see it now on Amazon. It disappeared from local stores years ago, and I never found a substitute.

I'm in an experimental phase with anti-aging products and if you are interested I can report back when I decide what I like.

If you wear foundation that works well I would like to know the brand. I like Almay Clear Complexion with 0.5% salicylic acid. I wish I knew something else that stayed put without clogging my pores, (no mineral sunscreens) because I don't always want the salicylic acid.

I have found "natural" skincare does not mean a thing or that it's going to help your skin at all. Been down that road, and I actually had allergies to some "natural" ingredients.
I never leave the house without a 50 SPF on, and never forget to use an eye cream at night. Currently using Bio Derma Eye Cream.
I'm also a huge fan of micellar waters. They are essential to use all over your face first to get all the makeup off, before you wash your face! Dont forget this step ladies! I love the Garnier pink one. And the Simple brand micellar waters the best.

Thank you so much everyone~ I would love to reply to everyone's comments! Love love all your responses! Keep them coming! Deborah: I have heard of Rodan and Fields~ They are supposed to be really good. They are both dermatologists. And yes the Cera Ve serum I really like!
It sounds like almost everyone here has dry skin except me! I've had oily skin all my life and still do pretty much, but I am also developing a bit of rosecea on my cheeks in my old age---lol. And in the cooler months, my skin is not so oily. I used Clinique all throughout my teens and 20's, but found they do nothing for skin ageing. I have been an esthetician for 20 years, so I've tried every skincare line imaginable, and yes, spent fortunes on it too. Now, I've pretty much wanted to simply my life, so I've narrowed down my skincare somewhat! I use primarily Chanel Le Blanc foaming cleanser in a tube, then one of their three toners (love love)---they make a blue one for sensitive dry, a pink one for normal, and a green one for oily, they are all fabulous, and I love the packaging! and their Hydra Beaute gel-cream (love love). Also love the sleek packaging on all Chanel skincare. , I also use Lancome's Hydra Zen gel-cream at night, it has the best relaxing smell, and also their essence, after toning. I work in some exfoliators sometimes, and sometimes a mask, but not as much as I once did as my skin is getting more prone to redness as I get older. I really like the Loreal new masks in jars, especially the blue one! Fabulous! And for serums (tried them all), I really like Loreal Triple Power serum. It comes in a red bottle, 1 oz for 18.00. Serums can really cost a fortune. The Cera Ve serum is nice. For a creamy cleanser, I like Vichy 3 in One cleanser in a tube too.

I am totally in love with Skinceuticals after getting a facial when I was at the Ritz Carlton in California a couple of months ago. As soon as I got home I ordered a number of their products as I was almost out of the stuff I used to use.

I cleanse my face in the evening and in the morning just use a toner - Thayers alcohol free witch hazel. I then apply Skinceutical CE Ferulic serum to my face, neck, and decolletage, wait a few minutes and add their HA serum. After these soak in I use sunscreen, then Emollience moisturizer on my face, neck, decolletage and their Eye Balm on my brow bone and underye. At night I cleanse ad use a retinol and moisturize after waiting about 1/2 hour after the retinol soaks in.

Skinceuticals is very pricey, but I have found that I only need very little of their product as compared to what I used to use.

I get a facial once a month which includes a glycolic peel during the winter months.

I always got compliments on my skin, but lately people have been in awe and I have to admit that I do see a difference that I never saw before. Even without mosturizing my skin is no longer dry or flaky. I had a few sun spots which are barely visible now.

Sigh. I did not respond earlier because I do not have a consistent skin care regime and I think it shows. Right now I am having a flair up of acne and I have stopped using everything on my face (except soap/water twice a day) to try and control the acne.

Ah, skincare! I spend a fortune, it seems.

For morning:

. Splash on some warm water, followed by cold, to freshen the skin (I don't cleanse in the morning or my skin will be dry).
. Spray on some EvanHealy lavender hydrosol mixed with the Argan Oil Serum and massage it into my face. I also add a squirt of aloe if my skin is dry (in the winter).
. Put some EvanHealy Wild Carrot Balm under my eyes.
. Massage in some EvanHealy Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Leaf.
. Put on SkinCeuticals sunscreen (SPF 50, tinted).

For evening:

. Cleanse with either Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Creme or Naturopathica Sweet Lupine cleanser (I use the latter if I have worn makeup).
. Spray with EvanHealy lavender hydrosol.
. Put some EvanHealy Wild Carrot Balm under my eyes.
. Massage in Naturopathica Argan and Retinol Wrinkle Repair Cream.

I occasionally create a green clay mask or use Juice Beauty's Green Apple Mask (glycolic acid peel), maybe once every week or two.

Hmm, I guess that doesn't sound too bad. Still expensive, though!

I have found that my skin got drier as I got older, though I don't know if it's just aging or if it has to do with the significant health problems I have accumulated. I used to have extremely oily skin well into my twenties but now have skin that is on the dry side (I'm 44).

I have critically dry skin. I use the oil cleansing method which was a brilliant switch for me.

I remove makeup with a little cotton pad and pure, organic, cold-pressed avocado oil.

I wash my face with 1/4 castor oil, 3/4 avocado oil, and a few drops of lavender essential oil. I rub and rub and rub and rub it in, and then steam my face with a baby washcloth made of bamboo for 20 seconds, and then rinse/wipe gently a few times.

I spray my face with Avene thermal water

I spray my face with organic rosewater and pat in.

In the morning, I do a BHA exfoliant from Paula's Choice, followed by a vitamin C/E serum. At night, I use my prescription Retin-A.

In the morning, I apply Paula's Choice ultra-rich moisturizer, and then when that absorbs (takes about 20 seconds), I add a thin layer of Laneige Sleep Water Mask, which also absorbs immediately. Then I put on my Avene mineral sunscreen.

At night, I put on a very thick layer of Paula's Choice ultra-rich moisturizer, followed by a generous application of Laneige Sleep Water Mask. Right before I go to bed I rub one pump of avocado oil all over my face and neck again and then apply a layer of vaseline around my mouth and nostrils, which crack and bleed during the winter. That gets me through the night.

Other tricks:

Sleep on my back and never let my face touch the pillow. When I was 35 my dermatologist told me she could tell what side I slept on because my face is perma-squished and wrinkled more on one side. Also, pillowcases can give you acne.

Only use 100% cotton hankies, no harsh paper tissues. ('My Hanky' is fab!)

Dab Vaseline on delicate spots when getting on an airplane or venturing out in very cold, dry weather.

Be mindful of the sun. I have melasma which is caused by wonky hormones and exposure to UV rays. Always sunscreen. I have a sun-blocking umbrella that I use when walking around town. I put sunshade on the passenger window when my husband drives. I stand or walk in the shade instead of sun whenever possible. (This means when I go for a walk I alter my route as I go along for maximum shadiness!)

Never, everrrrrrrr touch my face with my hands unless I have washed them immediately beforehand.

Soap and water! I use sunscreen whenever I will be out in the sun, plus hats. Any masks, moisturisers etc etc are generally gifts or free samples from goody bags. I can never use them up fast enough. I'm very sceptical about beauty brands, comes of reading "The Beauty Myth" by Naomi Wolf aged 29.

How much time do you have? Earlier this year I got really into Asian beauty brands; have backed off on some of those obsessions but I still use the general approach. I double cleanse at night and either single cleanse or just splash water on my face - Muji oil cleanser and CeraVe hydrating cleanser right now. I've got about five billion* sunscreens but my favorites right now are a Missha one or, now since it's winter and I'm not outside much most days, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.

My skin's gotten a lot drier as I've gotten older - not mega-dry yet but I can tell it will as I continue to age. So I try not to use too many harsh products; no strong scrubs or acids. And I try to add hydration whenever I can, with serums or toners or what-not, and heavier creams at night. I like the Laneige water bank serum and the Ordinary Buffet serum.

As far as more 'active' stuff, I haven't had that much success with retinols yet, but I think I was starting out too strong, even though it was OTC. I've been trialling Differin now that it's OTC in the US, and have been pretty pleased - it's primarily for acne but is a type of retinol. Eventually I want to work up to the prescription-strength stuff but I guess I'm in no hurry since as soon as you start you have to keep using it to keep up your results. Every single vitamin C product I've tried, no matter what the form, has broken me out like crazy, so I'm done trying that for a while. I like mandelic acid - gentler than glycolic acid and seems to work better for me, but it's still only a once a week type of thing.

On a desert island list, I could get by - and have - with just a gentle cleanser, sunscreen, and Aquaphor. Caroline Hirons did a collab with Pixi for a two cleansers in one container situation, and that's nice for travel as well as the sample sizes I've gotten from MUAC and free packets from Sephora/Ulta. I recently picked up the Mizon Ultra Suboon** cream, and it's really nice for a night cream - just the right amount of hydrating and moisturizing but not clammy.

*OK, a slight exaggeration.
**No, I have no idea what a suboon is either.

I love skincare too! I love my monthly Birchbox!

In the morning I rinse with warm water and apply Philosophy Miracle Worker with SPF 30.

In the evening I use Neutrogena wipes in the blue packaging. They're oil based. Then I rinse and use cetaphil if necessary. I apply Philosophy night time retinol, some type of eye cream I cant remember and moisturizer (Philosophy).

3 times per week I use Vasanti Brighten Up! enzymatic face rejuvenator and this stuff is liquid gold. It makes my face glow.

Once every couple of weeks I use a mask.

Ah - you'll be sorry you asked. I am OBSESSED with skin care products. Sorry for shouting. I have had fantastic, to the point of unbelievable results with Elizabeth Arden's Prevage line. But it's very expensive, and unabashedly full of chemicals. A friend introduced me to a Canadian natural oils-based line called Skin Essence, and I really like it. I find oils allow makeup to go on so much smoother and easier and are SO moisturizing and soothing - BUT - I wonder about the efficacy of them in terms of reversing damage or signs of aging (lines, mostly) So, I am mixing the two regimens. The typical signs of aging are on my face - lines, and enlarged pores - but not badly for my age (56) . My skin is fine, fair-ish and full of freckles and pigmentation. I can't hide much .
