Roaring Twenties, without doubt. But that era is really hard to copy with my body (definitely isn't slim and lean, as flappers supposed to be), so for for dress-up situation I prefer to quote from 70's or 50's. Also I like pre-WWII, late 30's-early 40's, but those shapes are really hard to find.

1940s, followed by early 1960s. I think I may be partial to the 40s, however, since I swing dance, and a lot of ladies on the floor look SPECTACULAR in their dance outfits.

OT, but noting the variation in form here I got curious about the usage of apostrophes to designate groups of years. Style guides allow several forms:

For groups of years, the apostrophe at the end may be regarded as unnecessary, since there is no possibility of misreading. For this reason, some style guides prefer 1960s to 1960's (although the latter is noted by at least one source as acceptable in American usage), and 90s or '90s to 90's or '90's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe

Looks like everyone is "correct"

I like 30's and 40's and quite like early 60's. And I have a soft spot for certain 90's looks, perhaps because that was what I wore when I started full time work eg twin sets.

I've been watching The Hour, which makes me want to respond the 50s. But honestly, any time period where I couldn't wear pants would make me cranky, after a while.

Favorite Fashion Era = post war 1940s (but I like a lot from Edwardian to 1990s)

I would like an Edwardian wedding dress (if it comes to that). I have several favorites from each era.

Like Nancylee, I love that European Napoleonic neo-classical revival period. I've also always had a thing for the 20's. Unfortunately, the popular styles in the era's that I love don't love me back.

I don't really know. I thought that I wasn't a 70's person, but I am really loving all the flowy tops right now. I do like the fact that for the last few years one can wear practically anything and look good.

70's or the era just before WWI (post-Victorian and pre-20's flapper) when women wore empire waist dresses inspired by the Ballet Russes. I love these eras because the styles freed women from corsets and restricted clothing and also had a boho vibe.

I'm very intrigued with the 40's. I think it stems from looking at old photos of my mom when she was in her late teens/early twenties. She had some beautiful dresses and suits, and don't get me started on the hats!

I don't dress like it at all, but I always liked late 30s/early 40s style, too. When I was in high school my friend and I used to watch hours of American Movie Classics (a sadly defunct cable TV station) and marvel at their clothes. Especially the suits. *swoon*
