We redid our walkin closet with the Elfa system from Container Store. The only thing that bolts to the wall is the top rail. The vertical rails hang from that and shelving, hanging bars, drawers, shoe shelves, etc. can be arranged in unlimited ways. It is very sturdy and can be rearranged as needs changed. My shoes have taken over Hubby's shoe storage so we are going to take a 24 inch section of his lower hanging bar and install more shoe shelves. I've been very happy with it.

my sister swears by california closets. they did closets in the current and previous houses. i have seem the system and it works for small and large closets. it is probably more important in small closets to maximize space.

mk has the right idea to keep working on your storage needs so when you are ready, you know what you want.

ikea has some great modular pieces that are nice but i doubt they will last.

I am also very interested in this -- we are in the market to redo our not-huge walk-in closet to take better advantage of the space. The current rack system in there is living on borrowed time, as the same system has crashed to the floor in two other rooms of our 20+ year old house. If that happens in our closet, I'll be in big trouble!

We have a contemporary post-and-beam house with lots of angled ceilings, so there's a beam running right through our closet, and an angled ceiling too, so it's not a straightforward job to allocate the space. I'd be willing to spend a little more for a good consultation service that can help us get creative with the space.

I had a great experience with http://www.easyclosets.com. They have a fantastic online designing tool and you can save your design and edit it to your heart's content. It isn't the cheapest thing in the world, but they will work with you on a design and once it's finalized they ship it to you and you install it yourself. (I hired somebody to do it but if you're handy it's reasonably simple.)

The best, smartest thing I did was keep working on it and tweaking it for almost a year, so by the time I pulled the trigger and ordered it I KNEW it was just what I wanted. It's now almost two years later and I am still super happy with the finished product. You can see the before-and-afters here.

My apartment came with built in closet organizers from Rubbermaid - I find that shelves that I can move to fit my needs are the most helpful. Originally; there were rods for tops and bottoms that spanned most of my closet, but since I only wear dresses (with some skirts), I was able to move the shelves and rods so that it better suited my own needs

I know this is a not a relevant forum for this topic, but i hope anyone of you would know the answer.

I'm planning to redo some of my closets and I found a lot of systems out there. I got two options Closet Maid and Organized Interiors. I heard Organized Interiors (http://www.organizedinteriors.ca/) also provides organizing services. Does anybody have any experiences or favorites? Thanks in advance!
