It does look very dark on the tube but when it goes on, it's more like subtly tinted lipgloss. I also like NARS. I tried a bright YSL lipstick, and those seem really nice, very light. They also stain your lips so a little bit of color is still there long after the lipstick wears off. My fav go tos are:</p> <p>Revlon Super Lustrous in the Creme formula (these are AMAZING lipsticks for the price. I don't even always need a gloss on top and that is saying something. Tons of Mac dupes too if you look them up.)</p> <p>Mac in Cremesheen formula</p> <p>I also sometimes layer chapstick over or under a lipstick but this will break down the color (unless that's what you're looking for). So i prefer tinted chapsticks. </p> <p>Revlon also just came out with some "Lip Butters" that are supposed to be a perfect in between chapstick - lipstick formula. I haven't tried them yet but i plan to soon.</p> <p>ETA: As for longest last formula -- it really depends on you. It is called Lip Insurance and I wear it under my other lipsticks when I don't wear lip tars. </p> <p>Agree with Sarah on NARS too. I love almost anything NARS makes. Chanel lipsticks are also very nice. That hands down goes to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar. Sounds gross and sticky, but they aren't sticky at all. The are smooth and creamy, take the most minute amount ever for application, and once they dry they wear like diamonds. It claims to last six hours, but I've gotten four hours of talking and general use out of it, which is great for a gloss. It isn't a super high shine, which I quite like. I prefer nude colors so I don't notice when they wear off so much. I'm no help if you like vavavoom colors. I did try Dior once and it was divine, but I didn't think it lasted longer than normal and it was quite pricey and half the size of other lipsticks. I think the Bare Escentuals lipsticks stay pretty well (Gelato is my favorite) but I need to put a gloss over them. I prefer the Buxom or Stila glosses .
