I notice many of you favor bold colours and hairstyle.  BlondeAmbition: You don't mention contrast, but it looks like it is central to your style: eyes against mouth makeup, black against pops of colours, classic straight lines against drapes. How wise of you. one opposite accentuates the other, adding to the effect.  Griffyn, your style sounds fantastic! Could it be a bit "Mod"?  Dee, I am curious to know why you have started gravitating around more neutral tones and if it has anything to do with YLF, or if it is just by personal preference. Do you find that wearing neutral tones amplifies your frame's drama power? Gigi, you have a point, in that it's not just about which drama strategy we use, but how many at a time. One has to be careful not to do too much at one time. I find it's so easy to overdo it, especially when trying something new. About nail polish: I like to do mine later in the evening, before going to bed. I set myself a good hour, once a week. When I have less time, I go for clear nail polish and it lasts me almost a week. Colours, no matter what, last only a couple of days before they chip.  Re: maxi skirts on petite frame: I have seen it worn successfully on many petites in the last year, and yes, it has drama power, but in a good way if as you say the skirt is cut right.  Laura, are you sure? Maybe the idea of drama - and the very word, "drama" -is putting you off, but you might be using some unknowingly. I admit that before reading YLF I would not have thought about this concept in terms of "drama", although now I kind of like the term. I thought of it as "wow-factor" or impact, or simply "avoir du chien" (in French, to have style, to have a certain something). cciele, what is a top-bottom gal? For me, I would say 1. high-contrast dressing and some bold colors 2. interesting shoes 3. nail polish and makeup 4. bold patterns 5. hats Of these five, I normally don't do more than one or two at a time. I would like to do makeup and nail polish more often, but that gets into a bigger time investment than I can handle right now. I should really get my nails on a schedule (file one day of the week, apply polish another day, etc.) so that I can wear it more often. I always feel prettier with polish! I think I would look just plain silly in architectural clothing, since I am only 5'2" and have a small frame. I would get completely lost in the excess fabric. But I do wear maxi skirts that have interesting patterns and flattering cuts for me. I don't know if the large expanse of fabric in a maxi skirt on a smaller-framed person qualifies as dramatic by its very nature (?). Bold accessories - My clothes tend to be neutral colors or black, and so I add my pops of color in purses, scarves, jewelry and shoes. Here are mine: 1) Hairstyle (I am currently growing mine from pixie to shoulder length so it is a bit difficult to play with it as much as I'd like, but I usually love to create drama with my hair because it changes my face and silhouette a lot). 2) Architectural and Avant-Garde Clothing and Accessories (Even if I am "petite", and ruffle or volume induce lots of misses for me, I still am a sucker for it). 3) Bold colours and high contrast (Inexplicable attraction. But it generally works well). 4) Irregular Juxtapositions (not sure I am getting this in the same manner Angie intended... I love to pair unexpected items together, such as ones that belong to different wardrobes in order to dress up or dress down a piece. The effect is often fun and refreshing).
