You might try Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Kohls carries them. I have an old pair that has a high rise, especially in back.

Have you tried Zara jeans? I find that they fix this problem for me (I had the same problem).

Have you tried Cookie Johnson jeans? They're cut for a curvier figure... might be worth a try.

I have a pair of Guess jeans that have a much higher back rise than front, but failing that, how about trying actual high-rise jeans? They definitely wouldn't do that.

Thanks!

Yes, that is definitely the problem. The Citizens I am wearing seem to be about 15" back rise in size 32.

Are there any brands that are known for having higher back rise that I could start with? I am having trouble finding that information for a lot of the jeans I am interested in.

It sounds like you need a higher back rise.

Check the front and back rise (measure from the crotch intersection to where the waistband is attached) on those Citizens. Then use those measurements as a guide when you are checking out different styles and brands.

It sounds like you need a longer back rise on your pants so that the waistband is positioned properly at the back. If you check the Details section on the Nordstorm's website you'll see that the back rise on jeans can vary from a very low 10" to a much higher 15". The same goes for the front rises. Ideally you want a rise that sits nicely on your hips to avoid muffin top; tthe exact placement can vary depending on your body shape--a pretty pear might prefer a different position than an adorable apple, for example.

Once you've figured out what back and front rise is likely to work best, you still need to try on different brands and styles because some jeans are cut with quite a rounded back curve to accommodate a fuller butt, while others are cut with a shallower curve for a flatter butt.

Sizing up, and altering the waistband at the back, can also be a solution for some shapes, but I'd start with measuring those front and back rises.

I have tried pinning the waist bands to see if altering would be worth it...it just seems like they get still get pulled down and then I have an even tighter line across my lower belly and hips.

Somehow, my waistbands can cut in at my stomach but still gap at the back.

I'm finding a wider belt helps with this, both with avoiding muffin top and with holding the pants up. Somehow narrower belts cut without doing the job.

When I sit down, especially if I sit on the floor, the jeans slip down and my rear is exposed.

In almost every pair of jeans I've ever owned I have this problem. Doesn't seem to matter low rise or not. A belt tight enough to give me a muffin top will stop it...but then I have muffin top. I have tried cheap brands and expensive brands, bigger sizes and smaller sizes. Heck, I've been bigger sizes and smaller sizes in the time I've been struggling with this!

The only pair that ever didn't have this problem is a pair of Citizens of Humanity high rise straight cut with a button fly (arley). I ruined mine in the washing machine and now I can't find them anymore in my size.

I have a wide flat bottom and a lot of times, when viewed from the side, the back rise is lower than the front, even though it's supposed to be higher.

I've tried the usual mid-rise suspects Paige Hidden Hills, Kut from the Kloth, and Levis Curve ID. I just bought Paige "Kylie" on sale yesterday (supposed to be mid-rise 8.5 inches) but they have this problem and will have to go back, I think.

Any suggestions?
