Nickie, try checking out Alaskagirls outfit posts. She is out resident IT and has amazing style!

Curvy with waist would be hourglass...without would be Apple. Sorry, my wording was confusing.

Basically, if you have a strong shoulder line and slimmer hips, then chances are you're an IT. But, the very best way to tell is to try some classic silhouettes for your shape, and for the one you're uncertain of. Post them and we'll see which one looks more flattering! Ie, try a jacket that has shoulder pads and a single button at the waist. If you look like a linebacker, you're an IT.

Apples have round, full tummies, which precludes a 24" waist! When young apples work hard to eliminate their tummies & lower overall body fat they usually reveal as ITs or rectangles, and the latter never have a very big hip/waist ratio -- think Cameron Diaz rather than Sophia Vergara. Inevitably the menopause fairy visits & can turn a variety of body types into mature apples with age & hormonal load changes. But I think ITs & rectangles are always most at risk. If it's any consolation, they usually have a lifelong set of great legs!

Yeah my shoulders are wider but they're like my hips like very low fat they're actually muscular. How do you dress an Inverted triangle?

I tend to dress to bring out the top and bottom. Even though they're different sizes I don't know how to make it more even like balanced but it really doesn't bother me so I just ignore it tbh. Even though I like side and back pockets.

As Jenava said it is hard to see from the picture. If your shoulders are wider across than your hips then you are IT; if they are about equal then more of hourglass. Apple tends to carry the weight in the midsection and not having a defined waist which you do have so I don't think you are an apple at all.

In the photo you look like an IT with your strong shoulder line. I think that either ITs or Apples can be straight or curvy. My dominant shape is rectangle and I am not at all curvy, but I have Apple and IT tendencies ( secondary characterists) that need to be considered when choosing clothing.
Your secondary tendency looks like hourglass.

I have hourglass measurements kiwi gal but 36-24-35. And thank you. But I gain weight on my boobs not really my hips so I'm definitely a top heavy shape I thought apple because I always see inverted triangles being the same thing as apple.

Apples are like hourglasses then? Since they're curvy like everywhere?

And my calves are actually...
They're like 14". I just have boot it jeans because that was my outfit that day.

It's hard to tell with the angle of this photo and the bootcut jeans, but I vote IT, not apple. Apples tend to be curvier all over, and if they are very slim with a smaller chest they tend to look more like rectangles.

Apples can have bigger chests. My sis is a true apple, and has a large chest even when she's slim...however she has narrower, sloping shoulders so she'd never be mistaken for an IT. As a pear/hourglass I've always been jealous of her slim hips and legs.

I would think you would be an IT as you look to have slim hips, a slim waist and defined shoulders. You have a lovely shape. You could also be a slim hourglass.

I think either an apple or IT can have a bust.

I am not an expert so hope I have it right.

Ok so which am I then? Because there was a post on apples and I responded but the slim version of an apple was so flat chested. Would I be an inverted triangle then?

I think an apple carries weight on their mid section, whereas an IT has broad shoulders and back. There can be cross over but some ITs will be flat in the mid section and some apples could have narrow shoulders. Both normally have slim legs.
