Hi Kfml,

Body types are very imprecise and sometimes can make you feel like you are being forced into a box where you don't belong. In my view the trick is to view them just as a starting point. When I work with clients we often talk about their style in terms of multiple body types. Sometimes someone will be an hourglass, with tendencies to also be an inverted triangle. Ultimately it is less about what type you are, and more about what clothes make you feel best. The body type is just one of many tools to get there.

What makes matters harder is that photos are hard to interpret. But I think a lot of people have tried to give input and there is a lot to draw from in this thread. The tone has gone downhill a bit so I'm going to close the thread, but I hope the exchange has been helpful.

I didn't mean fatter in a rude way as a woman you should probably be bigger than my as my bmi is 18.5.... I just was saying it doesn't sound bigger just wider or whatever reason your rib cage 34"... If you were thinner than me that would be a problem.

Kfmi -- You're picking fights now. I was not going to post in this thread anymore, but morbid curiosity made me click on it again, and now it looks like you're making borderline insulting remarks in response to people who are trying to help.

You're clearly not looking for advice -- you're trying to stir up some sort of fuss over something as silly as body shape. These descriptions and modifiers are broad for a reason: the human body comes in an endless variety of shapes and sizes. You're no more unusual than any of the rest of us, really.

But if you continue to insult people who are trying to be nice, I will ask the moderators to close the thread. Angie is very clear that this forum is to remain a respectful and helpful place. Peace out.

I'm by no means "fatter". Yes, I'm heavier in comparison to you and taller, bigger in general, if you will, you look very slim, but don say my boobs are "fatter" than yours. I didn't mean to offend you when I say your rib cage was broad, I compared it to your lower body and English is not my language so I didn't know how else to say it!
All I posted was my opinion, so I'm no dumb, my sight is not distorted and I do know how to read. If you don't agree, be more polite, just ignore it if you want.
I think everyone here really tried to help but this looks pointless.

I'm not an hourglass.

I'm none of the 5 shapes because there needs to be more shapes than that. If I had to choose between those five I would say top hourglass if that's not an option really just prefer trinny's 12 body shapes rather than just 5. I'm a cross between inverted triangle and hourglass. So it's harder to fit in either category completely.

If they don't look big then I'm definitely not a goblet. So you contradicted yourself. And you have not seen my shoulders so you can't even try to talk about that.

Btw my true bust size is 28GG/H.... So 34DDD just seems fatter to me proportionally the boobs are not bigger though unless you're wearing the wrong bra size. And to think you thought my rib cage was big....

I keep it easier though and just where a 32/34D out of the big sizes that's the only one that is the least problematic.

No I actually have curves from my hips too that's why it's an X type look on waist not a V. My actual hip bones above are 31.5".

If you're an hourglass you'll have a waist defined by the rib cage and hips not just the hips. That's just a pear...

And I looked at my photos again and noticed you can't see my shoulders as my arms are in the way. My arms are stretch when slouched/relaxed they're slightly above 34.

Which would make me 35-23-34. Yes they are wider but definitely not inverted triangle shape.

Anyhow how are you going to explain how so many that are called hourglass like Raquel welsh are bigger up top?

What? My sight is not distorted! I'm trying to help here, don't offend me, please. I repeat, they look the same width, I read before that you measure them but numbers don't say anything. Your waist is more defined because of your rib cage being bigger than because of you having big hips.

And no my butt is small normally.

And no a goblet does not have a defined waist... I don't just have a small waist it's defined as in the lines curve they aren't straight up and down.

Vengenz I already took that quiz a while ago. It matters how I answer if I say no to do you have a soft round middle or big breasts because I don't have a soft round middle but I have big breasts then I get cornet.

If I say yes the next question is am I tall and slender. I'm very short but I'm not really slender either I'm much skinnier than slender. If I say no I'm a goblet but if I say yes because I am skinny and all then I get lollipop.

Lollipop is my best fit but my shoulders are too big but I have a small frame and big boobs like a lollipop a while ago I had slight definition like a lollipop too. But dressing they focus on widening the shoulders when I have bigger shoulders. I can't really follow goblet as they tend to have narrow hips a big back and a tummy. While I have a defined waist slim hips a smaller frame and back. So the way I dress the goal is different I focus on my waistline when dressing and this is why I find following the top hourglass way to dressing is easier as I don't need more definition in the waist but rather focus on the hips wideness which my bust tend to drown out really. That's why I prefer top hourglass instructions.

Yes, I read everything, I think you answear something before I posted my comment.
Like I said an inverted triangle can be small in the middle also, like you are. If I had to put you in one of the Trinny and Susannah categories I'll say you're a skinny goblet, because of your broad shoulders, big boobs and broad rib cage. Below that everything gets smaller, the waist, the hips, the legs. You're thinking "but I have 10 inches of difference between my waist and hips!". It really doesn't matter, it's more about the whole look and it appears your rib cage looks the same size as your hips and gets wider at top. Maybe the secondary shape is lollipop because of your waist curve and thinnes. Are you happy with that result?

You are talking in circles. Many examples have been given of inverted triangles having a small waist compared to hips. In one post you say when you gain it's on your hips, bust and thighs, then further down you say your hips don't keep weight on them. You say your question still stands but it's not because it hasn't been answered, it's because you don't like the answer.
Early on it was stated that on this forum there are 5 body types and often there is a secondary type. That's the best we can do. I would say your secondary is hourglass so you could follow Angie's guidelines for both if you are looking for help in how to dress your shape.

I finally found the example I needed Raquel welsh is usually consider an hourglass if not she's considered top hourglass. She has shoulders and top much bigger than her bottom a lot of the woman of earlier days and were considered hourglass.... So this is why I obviously don't think a Raquel welsh has the same body shape as Naomi campbell.... Obviously you need a sixth or seventh option at least.

None of the people you named had defined waists. Defined waists are different from small waists you know right?

A defined waist is having indentations you can have a big defined waist like kim kardashian or beyonce or you can have a small one.

An undefined waist that's small is what I showed you above. It has nothing to do with size. But the shape the abs.

Mimi I don't consider myself an hourglass.... Have you read anything of what I said? I prefer 12 body shapes because I don't fit any category.

@tina I'm not arguing I'm asking a question here?

I asked if I'm an inverted triangle how comet waist is smaller than my hips and bust significantly? You know no triangle can be small in the middle?

This is my point. If you can't answer this then my question stands.

Simplify things: you're bigger on top and smaller on bottom and you have a waist. You don't need a label to be beautiful. You don't like other terms besides hourglass because it is considered the "most desired shape". I'm going to tell you what I told someone else, I love when someone tells me I'm an hourglass but it's more vanity than actual advise because what's the point of that? I'll still be bigger on top and smaller on bottom. The hourglass advise won't work for me. Is better to recognize what my body type is if I want to look for fashion tips. For me, hourglass means big on top, big on bottom, big boobs and a small waist. That's my personal opinion, though. Inverted triangles can have small waists too, by the way. Look at Naomi Campbell, Teri Hatcher, etc. they're inverted triangles with small waists. I think that's you body shape and It will help you if look for tips in that body shape. Love yourself!

Are you just upset that I pointed out a fact that a triangle of any sort doesn't go in the middle like I do. So the shape isn't exactly which was my point and problem with dressing in the beginning.

Your system doesn't work for everyone accept it. My body shape goes out at the top and bottom and much smaller in the middle yet it's not exactly hourglass.
@msmary.

For anyone who can actually answer my question. Please answer I'm not arguing in bringing up a valid point here.

You are most definitely an inverted triangle. Actually, we can pretty much see your shoulder line in the very last picture you posted. Your upper body carries more presence than your lower half, that is not a bad thing. Very many models are this body type. You need to quit arguing with the ladies here who are trying to be helpful. You have received not only good advice but encouragement and praise for your figure! There seems to be collective agreement for inverted triangle.

OK, I'm not arguing. No one knows your body better than you do. Why not just say what you believe your shape actually is, and move on. Truly, most of do not have body shapes that are easily pigeonholed, so why fret it? Enjoy!

My hips aren't narrow for my figure though they're much wider than my hips.

Not every hourglass is even on top and bottom. That's why there's top hourglass too.
