I think Kibbe is really hard trying to do the quiz and determining your label from that... I think it’s easier to read the descriptions of the clothing construction for the different types and work backwards to the label...

That’s really cool!
I have always tried to understand my body and appearance because I have changed styles so many times and I feel like different people perceive me in such different ways. I have been told I am boyish, curvy, stick thin, tiny from people all over my life. I am trying to understand my essence starting from my body. I think Kibbe could be helpful for me, but even in this field people have told me I am gamine, FG, Classic, dc.. I am just so confused

I’ve had a classical education (heavy on the Ancient Greeks and Aesthetics) reinforced by a family full of architects, lol. I can get into it, lol :)

I’m also average height and people call me tiny, but I believe they’re responding to my weight and perhaps comparing to their sense of their own height. But if you really look, I’ve got a medium bone density, so not tiny.

Wow, this is a very detailed explanation,
Thanks i think what has always prevented me from making up my mind is that my body seems to fit in with different types of styles (except for the pear body clothes). It’s funny that you talked about elongation, since I am 165 cm (normal height) but people often claim I look so tiny. Maybe I should have a look at this famous kibbe classification to understand my body btw, You seem very knowledgeable, I am impressed.

Well, it’s true that I think you are like me in that there’s not the biggest difference between shoulder, hip and waist width... but I feel you are also like me in that it still shows. It comes down to body mass v height... a narrower, more elongated figure would be needed to be a rectangle IMO. Or possibly no waist... but it’s interesting, if you had no waist, I suspect visually you’d become a definite triangle or possibly an apple.

I don’t think body type is something you can determine solely by measures (well, not without a lot more math). There are distortions of vision to account for. Like with architectural columns... the Ancient Greeks’ columns that look so straight, they are so much more elegant compared to modern columns because they’re NOT actually straight: they bulge outward ever so slightly.

I think you’re visually a slim hourglass, but technically you may be a triangle. Also: I believe side-to-side measures, not circumferential measures, are most relevant for body type...

Anne, thanks! I am trying to understand it because I’d like to know my Kibbe type but it was already hard before (since body types are already confusing) but right now I have just been explained that Kibbe curvy is different from what we mean with curvy. That’s so confusing

I think you are right about a classical system of body types being too rigid. Many people are a combination. I think you are a rectangle.

Some of my friends claim V shape, others hourglass but several stylists (I have done some shootings) claimed I am a rectangular.. I feel like the classical body types are a bit too strict for some women..
my measurements are 84-63-83

little add: My shoulders are quite wide compared to my body
