I have a couple of tops in this style and like them. The band seems to provide enough structure. I am an hourglass I think with weight on my high hips so I can get muffin top easily. These tops seem to disguise it well!

Thanks Diane and Lisap. Makes sense. This might work nicely on my body type (apple).

Usually refers to a top that is fitted at the hip and loose through the shoulders and upper body.

I would hazard a guess, looking at the photos that the term wedge is referring to the fact that the tops are wider through the upper body and shoulder line and the shape angles out. The effect is a little similar to a batwing style though not as pronounced.

I see that description now and again and am curious what it means. I've attached a few finds that were described as "wedge tops" in the product descriptions. They seem like boxy, fluid or oversized fits but I wonder if the term Wedge means something more precise. Also, is "wedge" a metaphor for something?
