I'm gonna see how comfy the Earthies are-- if I still need a super cushy footbed I might consider demoting the klogs to house wear and re-purchasing from their slimmer line (like the harleys or mission). If the Fryes work out, they will be a workhorse (favorite leather color, with slim jeans or bootcuts, all weather, most occasions, classic). The docs also would be all weather, keep me warm in my arctic office, and get worn casually (I have a pair of tan thinsulate combat boots that I wear in truly rough conditions, but these are the perfect alternative for running to the grocery store or the movies&nbsp;in slushy weather). I love my red boots, which I wear everywhere in mild weather-- I want to see them with my new slim jeans and with skirts this fall. I've realized that for me, gear excepted, a 5-shoe wardrobe would actually work. It's the bare minimum and I prefer to have some options, but I could get by with 5 carefully chosen pairs. It also helped me realize why I really do need those black boots and walkable neutral heeled sandals, and that I am completely justified in spending time and money on these. Last year I thought I could find a replacement pair for the perfect Aldos boots I got for under $200 (pretty much minimum price for tall real leather boots here); I never found them and had to wear the old worn ones a few times, because these are a wardrobe NEED for dressier winter occasions. I need to get hunting for this winter and I can justify $300-400 here (eek! The heel heights on these range from 2.5 inches to 4 inches, so they're not something I can wear every day. It's interesting to see how much of my shoe wardrobe is geared toward dressier shoes that are not practical for day-to-day wear. I currently own 17 pairs of what I would think of as 'fashion' shoes &amp; boots and about 10 pairs of 'utility' shoes &amp; boots (from xcountry ski boots to rubber flip flops) and I do just fine insofar as I never turn up anywhere barefoot... I could definitely add to my fashion shoes but beyond about 30-35 pairs I would probably just start unnecessarily splitting wears. I do have a new job contract constraint though: I must wear closed toe flats in the classroom. That has caused me to drift away from the flat sandals I favored in the past toward more sneakers, oxfords, ballet flats, etc. I never advocate for total shoe minimalism because it really does make a huge difference in how long your shoes last! I expend a lot of effort and money into choosing well crafted, fashion forward shoes and I expect to keep them 3-5 years, or more. They feel a bit "heavy" for my personal day style but I wanted a good pair of leather boots for snake country out here. Below is what I've bought so far for my extremely casual lifestyle. The Naots were the first post-surgery pair I bought for a European vacation right afterwards. I also have some purple Ed Hardy slip on sneakers (like Vans) and waterproof Keen hiker/booties&nbsp;from before the surgery. I don't feel a need for more. Want? Yes-cobalt! but I haven't met an occasion off the ranch&nbsp;so far that these won't cover. I'd like to keep my still growing collection at a dozen, not counting mud shoes.
