It sounds like you have been your little girls shadow for the past week, I hope she and the rest of the family are soon better and you manage to grab some rest along the way. DD1 has an ear infection at the moment, I'm posting as she sleeps and I just long to take her pain away.

Khris (and Sara and Bella) very sorry to hear this. Your poor daughter.
Swine Flu has ravaged our town in Australia - but ordinary flu can be tough too.
Glad she is on the mend.

Oh, back-to-school (a.k.a. flu) season is the worst, especially with the specter of swine flu! I wish your daughter a speedy recovery, and hope it bypasses the rest of your family.

DD is feeling a lot better today- still sick, but not terrifying me like yesterday. This morning, my son and I both seemed warm and I was sure we were coming down with it, but so far we are both doing fine.

Ooh - sorry to hear that you have it too bella.

Just wanted to say that the flu will clear up, pretty fast. The only reason mine dragged on so long is that I got strep throat which wasn't completely cleared up with the first round of antibiotics they gave me.

I got the throat problem at the very tail end of the flu - the flu was almost over by that point. So, in total - the flu will last maybe a week at most. Get some good movies from Netflix and stay home to recuperate. Or - you can do what I did - a whole lot of online window shopping. Somehow I ended up with three pairs of boots, and some new shoes in there. Oh, and a dress too - that I still have to take back.

Also - regarding the the title of your post -

What I wore yesterday? Faded old black yoga pants, black turtleneck sweater, blue velour hoodie on top of that (chills), ugly red and white Christmas slippers, and then a too-big fleece jacket on top of all that.

Go ahead - laugh.

Really sorry to hear this Khris. I got the flu starting on August 19th...and then a subsequent throat infection. Got that all cleared up with some antibiotics...but then my husband got the throat infection a week later and was put on antibiotics himself. Then, I got it back again! (also another week later - so I'm saying I got the throat infection back two weeks after I got it cleared up the first time - ridiculous). I've been sick for the past four days, hence my not posting around here. Three days into the second round of antibiotics and I'm starting to feel better again.

Anyway - just wanted to suggest keeping a sharp eye on things when your daughter gets better from the flu part. I got better, and then got worse - which was an indicator of a subsequent bacterial infection.

This was my first flu ever - and apparently the flu can sometimes mean bacterial infections afterwards. The flu apparently does something that breaks down your normal defenses to bacterial stuff.

Meanwhile, when I went to the doctor on day six of my flu (feeling much, much worse) I wasn't even aware that I had a fever. I'd check it occasionally, and didn't see a fever. Well, at the doctor's I did have a fever - so I think that the fever can come and go - it's sort of an intermittent thing. I also didn't know that you could get a fever a couple of weeks afterwards, out of the blue - so keep checking for a few weeks afterwards, just in case.

Anyway - in terms of any advice - all I can suggest is that you won't feel like cooking much, so when you do - cook up a lot of food at once, so you have stuff on hand that's easy-peasy. If you're going to make something, make lots. Then you won't have to again for a little while. Advil was a great help for me, in terms of managing the body aches and stuff. Plus, I had no idea that Advil would help a sore throat, but it does - much better than any throat lozenge or cough syrup.

Also - a mug of Earl Grey would always make me feel better, and so did plain ordinary canned soup.

Hang in there - and please get better soon! Sorry to hear about the ER thing, that must have been scary.

Pajamas again :(

Dd's cold progressed to a pretty bad flu yesterday. I couldn't get her fever down from 103. She was lethargic, not eating, and moaning in her sleep. We took her to the ER last night. They said it was an upper respiratory infection, and the cold med that we had been giving her did not have enough Tylenol to treat the fever. It's almost 11 am, and she is still asleep. She doesn't seem as warm, and she is no longer moaning. I think that my son and I are getting it now. I'm not surprised since she spent all of her awake time the past few days sitting in my lap and coughing in my face. The ER doc said to expect it to last a week, and dd has been sick since Tuesday. It looks like we are in for another week of it.
I know that this is going around, so I hope everyone else out there stays well. Wash your hands and don't touch your face!
