Violet, thanks! I'll have to break out the zebra print more often, then. It's so different from the rest of my solid clothes, but I've been wanting to add more of an edge to my style.

Asha, the cowl neck is actually quite long (too long to wear with skirts when it's not tucked in.) I think I'll give it a shot with pants next time and see if the cardigan works better. If not, I don't feel bad about sending the cardigan on to retirement. After looking at some old pictures I realized I've been wearing it for about 7-8 years! Not bad cost per wear...

Thanks Kari. The one I bought does zip over my bust comfortably (shocking!), but I feel like it's not flattering that way. I'll post outfits with it as soon as I get some pictures taken.
I can't explain exactly why, but I think the black cardigan would look less boxy if some of the cowl neck shirt was showing at the hem. So maybe it can work with pants (longer length top underneath) and show your figure.

You look great! I love the green shirt and the zebra print belt. That is definitely my favorite. I also like the outfit from Saturday. The fun scarf really makes the outfit. Hope you feel better soon!

Asha, good point about the black cardigan. This was actually on the discard pile but at the advice of YLF I'm keeping it around on trial. It may not be worth it, though - I definitely don't want to look blocky or wide.

Bright colors make me smile too. I'm still tentative about wearing brights together, but if they work, I'll keep trying! Thanks for your feedback.

I recently invested in two biker jackets (this one from Ann Taylor, and a great denim one that was on sale a month ago at Armani Exchange - Angie recommended the latter to Nicole, another busty forum member.) Originally I thought this style would never work because most biker jackets or denim jackets were cut for a much narrower figure, but these two jackets were the exception. I can definitely zip them up all the way comfortably. However, I feel like it's more flattering to leave the jackets only part of the way zipped - up to mid-bust.

Tuesday - I love both the skirt and the cowl neck, but the cardigan looks boxy to me and doesn't show off your figure.
Wednesday - Cute cardi!
Thursday - I love it! The belt hits you at just the right spot, and I love the colors. Plus I love to wear electric blue and kelly green with black and white, so that outfit made me smile.
Friday - Love! The color combo, the jacket - love it.
Great accessory haul too!
I have a question for you. Do you ever zip the jacket all the way up? I ask because I just bought a similar shaped jacket, which I adore and can't wait to wear, but I feel like I can never zip it up all the way because of the bustiness issue.

Wow, I did not expect the zebra print belt to be such a big hit! I'll try to use it more often. It's the first time I've had animal print on my body (not just on my feet.) I want to take the orange skinny belt out for a spin, too.

Kristen, since I usually don't think very much about color it's taken me a while to grasp the Academichic color theories - or at least get a sense of how I can translate them into my own wardrobe - but I love the challenge of being more intentional about what colors I pair together. It's making me a bit bolder about using more than one strong color in the same outfit instead of wearing mostly neutrals.

Cricket, I'm not sure if I've found the sweet spot for belts yet, but I'm belting it around my natural waist. It ends up slipping down a couple inches throughout the day, but not below bellybutton level. I have a long torso but short natural waist (due to large bust/hips and mushy midsection) so I'm trying to be careful about where and how I belt.

My aunt is incredibly generous with her gifts or hand-me-downs, and nearly all of my jewelry is from or made by her. To echo Inge, it definitely felt like Christmas!

And yes, I will definitely have fun with the new pieces. I'm making it my challenge to wear one of these each day this week as soon as I start getting dressed again. I'm currently lounging in very unfashionable but comfortable pink flannel pajamas with polar bears on them.

I LOVE what you are doing with colors! Those gals at Academichic are pretty inspiring, aren't they? Wednesday's triad of green, eggplant and mustard; those are three of my favorite colors, and you do some great things with them.

You are going to have SO much fun with those scarves and necklaces! I love the purple one already.

Julie, thank you. Wednesday was the day I felt like I looked the best, so I'm glad I hit the mark. The skirt is actually the same AT denim pencil skirt that julijuli just purchased - she has a clearer picture of the skirt detail. I bought mine two months ago and it's quickly become a staple!

Kendra, thanks for the color feedback. I'm so happy that kelly green is a big color this season and tried to stock up. I felt so darn BRIGHT at work that day, though!

Out of those new pieces, the one I'm most anxious to wear is the large twisted multi-strand necklace. It may be the most challenging to wear because it's quite a statement piece and a lot bolder than any other necklace I have, so you'll probably see some attempt to wear it later this week.

I'm stuck at home with the flu, so in between responding to work email I'm posting a few outfits from last week. Overall I had a lot of fun with brighter colors this week, but I feel like my layering/shape choices are kind of blah. I'm hoping to play up accessories much more because they aren't as limited by my body type.

Tuesday: http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....esday.html
Cowl neck top from Express. This isn't the one that Angie recommended. I actually tried that one out, but the cowl drooped so far down that it looked really goofy on me. I'm not sure if this shorter cowl-neck works with any of my cardigans (although it looked good on its own and might be OK for summer wear.) In any case, I still have the tags, so may return if it looks like it will become a wardobe orphan.

Wednesday: http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....triad.html
This green cropped cardigan (last impulsive buy) is definitely a keeper. The color is great and the flower makes me feel feminine without going overboard.

Thursday: http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....erent.html
Tried out a belted look for the first time ever in public. I felt very bold with the color combinations AND the animal print, but now I look at the pictures and think this is a very pedestrian silhouette.

Friday: http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....riday.html
Lots of brights.

Saturday: http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....urday.html
Started to feel sick so went with very basic and comfortable pieces, but threw on a fun scarf.

My aunt recently decided to downsize her jewelry/scarf collection, so this weekend she had my sister and I sort through her castoffs. I ended up with many fun pieces that I'm excited to try out. The scarf I wore on Saturday was one of her hand-me-downs.
http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....ieces.html
