There’s no cell phone service here with my company, so I’m limited to wireless at my B&B or my work computer. So far it’s been really fun out here. I’ll be working through the end of the week. Most of the work is by telephone, but not a soul is dressed in anything more formal than jeans, and just about everyone at the airport was in Carhartts or some other gear. The industry here is salmon fishing and canneries, so there’s a big summer influx of workers, but at this time of year, just about everything is closed. There is one cab service with three vehicles (two vans and a Subaru), a general store, and a couple of bars and restaurants. So there isn’t anywhere to go.  My one staff member out here commented that she admires my outfits, so I told her my "looks like work clothes, feels like pajamas" strategy.   I feel adequately and appropriately dressed for me and for climate. Everyone knows I’m not local in a town of 300, so no sense in looking like I’m trying too hard to fit in. People are very open, friendly and trusting. Advice was to dress very casual and not stand out. On the other hand I still need to look presentable. Took a tiny plane and lots of luggage was left behind due to weight limits on plane load. Fortunately bag arrived today. I've brought my Ugg Cortonas (booties only) and wore Xtra-tuffs on plane with skinnies, long cardi and warm coat. Packed two ponte skinnies, Joie cashmere tunics, a cobalt tunic, and the layered Trouvé sweater. That's all. In the last 5 minutes it's gone from clear and sunny to giant hail! But I'm by a river with belugas in it and life in a bush village is fascinating. Will post some pics when it clears up again. Here's a pic of today's sweater - cobalt twins with Janet!
