It’s summer there now?</p> <p>Lucky friends for sure </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/what-i-made-skirted-slips#post-2166096 Sun, 17 Jan 2021 09:02:47 +0000 Deborah 2166096@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Thanks for the interest in the skirted slips that I mentioned in my previous post.  A couple of you asked to know more and Angie was keen to know about the upcycling part of the process, so here goes.</p> <p>As some might recall, I really enjoy layering my outfits.  I had seen labels like Rundholz creating tulle skirts that were styled under dresses and skirts to create different looks.  I spent some time considering how I could make my own and, given I have very basic sewing skills, it took a while to process the most common sense and straight forward way to make them.  Over the past 5 years I have also made a significant commitment to an ethical wardrobe so I wanted to make the slips using recycled materials.  </p> <p>I started by asking my girlfriends to pass on any half slips that they weren't using and now I am sourcing half slips from an amazing local opportunity shop.  For the first couple I made, I did purchase new fabric but I am now scouting the Op Shops for fabric remnants, and vintage tablecloths (lots of varieties of gingham).</p> <p>It's simply a matter of adding the width of fabric you want to the bottom of the slip.  It is a work in progress but I am really enjoying it, and I love wearing them.</p> <p>Pics 1 - 3 are the first three I have made - gingham, tulle and chiffon pleat.  The following pic is some fabric and tablecloths I picked up on Friday that I plan to use.  </p> <p>Guess what all my girlfriends will be getting for their birthdays this year lol.</p> <p>Thanks so much for looking <br /> xxx Deb </p>
