It is very durable but it takes long time to soften fabric if it is truly scratchy. Not all of these are scratchy , depends hugely on quality. They are my summer wardrobe workhorses - I wear one or another to a pool, grocery shopping, walks around my neighborhood. I brought both of them on vacation in Crete last year. I do however love a light dress for doing so, and have ended up with two new ones, in brown hemp from Muji and navy cotton eyelet from Walmart. One additional summer purchase in the form of long, loose linen pants in a pretty blue I couldn’t resist while in American Eagle with my daughter.</p> <p>In the interests of keeping myself honest, other purchases include a locally made by @linenway linen smock with pockets, again mostly for puttering but potentially nice enough to wear out, and some made-to-order workout gear from a one woman shop in Saskatchewan @bearandroo that I learned about via a Made in Canada facebook group. Perhaps in a bit of pleasant penance for my Walmart dress purchase </p>
