Shannon, I also don't have a surefire solution, but maybe it's worth trying putting them in the dryer for a bit? It certainly won't make them bigger...

Shannon - could you say more about what it is about the look of them that you don't like as much now that you've washed them? Or maybe post a picture?

If it's that they're not as soft now as they were, it could be that you have hard water. Line-drying always makes my clothes "hard" and then after they're dry I toss them in the dryer on low heat for a few minutes to soften them up a bit.

Shannon, I saw this but didn't have any solution for you. I can imagine how disappointed you are. I wonder if you could get your money back if you complained to the company. You certainly didn't do anything wrong.
I've had a problem in the past with jeans that had 4 or 5% spandex getting too big. I don't remember if that was after washing, just that they grew after awhile. Like you, I used cold water, gentle cycle, and hung them to dry. I learned at this site to stick to 1-2% spandex or lycra. All my jeans right now are from thrift or consignment, so were pre-washed before I tried them.

I don't think anybody saw this so I'm bumping it up. Either that or nobody else has this problem. I'm still wondering what I do wrong all the time.

I bought a pair of Level 99 skinny jeans. They fit perfectly! I wore them a couple of times before washing them. Continued to fit great the whole time. Did not stretch out too much or anything. So, I wash them. Cold water, hang to dry. I wore them again last night. Now they don't seem to fit as nicely. They stretched out more than before and I don't like the look of them as much. What happened? Is it all in my head? I never dry my jeans, but I am tempted to to see if I can get the original fit back. Does this happen to anybody else?

Below is a link to the jeans I bought. The review is mine. Maybe I should have waited after washing to post that review.
